If you've read every issue of THE WALKING DEAD....

I just recently read the final storyline. I didn't have as much sympathy for Dwight...

I did like the Commonwealth story and liked Michonne's part in it. Great character development for her in the end.

To be honest, I was disappointed that ANYBODY survived. By the end, I honestly felt that the only thematically appropriate ending was the zombies winning and everybody dying. Sadly, Kirkman disagreed.

In his afterward, he does say that it was originally his intention to have the Dead win in the long run. There is a cool description of how the final page would show Alexandria in the future--we would see a statue to Rick Grimes which would then pan out to see the Dead walking around it.

Apparently his intention was to end the series after issue 75. But then he changed his mind and worked on creating the rest of the stories. He says that he just didn't want the characters to have a bleak ending.
