If you were able to use the Holodeck

It would be:

My own Stellar Cartography/Imagemaker of the Universe
My Travel "vehicle"
My Historical Recreator
My "Books Come Alive" Theater. (Ringworld is First)
My Ultimate Kareoke Machine

I would be So Far Past HoloAddicted...

I would become Klingon ruler of the galaxy in the TOS era.

I think only those predisposed toward addictive behavior would have holo-addiction.
Unless the computer is impossibly sophisticated, there will always be something that tells you the whole thing just isn't real... maybe some aspect of the environment, or, more likely, the way sentient beings are portrayed.

Kor

I personally don't have an addictive personality but a holodeck might change that. A lot of needs can be taken care of in there.

Also, I thought you didn't like the 24th century. I don't remember Kirk spending a lot of time in a holodeck.

BTW, do you remember Data's holograph disguised com-terminal in All Good Things...

That would be how the majority of everyone's house would be. We would just become use to living surrounded by holographic settings. It would ultimately be part of our reality

You can have my Holodeck Master ISO-Linear Bio-Neural Gel Pack when you pry it from the hand of my cold, drooling, holo-addicted self!

Warp This! I got yer Warp Speed!

I can stop going in there any time I want!

"Ma! Jesus! I am going to Geidi Prime to see The Baron now! F*CK. Leave Me Alone!

Any time I want!

I'd use it to put myself into some of my favorite movies. or I hate to admit it, I might even do what Riker did in the Enterprise Finale, Find a bridge station on the TOS Enterprise to watch a recreation of Kirk, then on the Refit :)

WWII aerial combat! Escorting B-17s over Germany in a P-47 with the 56th fighter group, blasting 109s and 190s out of the sky left and right. Then over to the Pacific for some ground attack missions, blowing up Japanese factories and shipping (which is what my Dad was doing 70-odd years ago)

And, of course, sex with all those high school girls who ignored me back then. At the same time. Maybe they'd be Orion green :).

As a foot fetishist, I would have the time of my life being able to have a fantasy woman whose feet I could tickle without any repercussions. I would also be having sex too, and dates with said woman, since I've had problems with being with people in real life. (Oh, one other thing-this program [the tickling parts in particular] would be private and for me only.)

Other things I'd like to do:

*Fly in my own version of WW II in which I get to fly a modern day fighter (say a F-16 or similar attack jet) in which I kick the ass of the Luftwaffe single-handedly and then some.) I'd also be doing other flight-related stuff as well.

*Go to all of the rock concerts I never go to go to

*Meet and date famous ladies (actresses, mostly)

*Be a superhero

*Be like Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon

I would enter a holodeck program set in the 16th century (Elizabethan era), but without all the people getting decapitated for their crimes.
Watching an original Shakespeare play. ;) At the Globe Theatre, of course.

The use of the holodeck is endless. Whatever your desire, be it educational, entertaining, amusing, even erotically, you could do it. You could do anything that anyone could or have done whenever or you can make it up as you go. It's the perfect device.

What do you do when the holodeck fail-safe systems fail???

^ I'd hope my phalanx of Spartans can take the incoming wave of Orks, or something like that.

Wait, if you enable god mode (invulnerability, super strength, ect.) and the holodeck's safety protocols fail, are you still fine?

I don't know, in any case they had a hell of problems with the holodeck. For Q junior the holodeck is boring. He'd rather have fun with Pippi Longstocking. ;)

There's not much that can satisfy a Q. It's why they keep messing with lesser species.

Q had fun with Picard, Riker, Worf and Aunt Kathy. But not with Sisko. He never returned to DS9.

But Q paid a visit to the Voyager holodeck. You can switch of an annoying hologram, but you can't switch off Q :D
