And I expect reasons for the selections, and reasons for the interactions
Me?
Captain: Cisco. He understands context, and goes with his gut (much like Kirk), yet isn't as reckless (at least if we're talking movie Kirk). Picard is too by the book and will throw you under the bus immediately. Janeway is too inconsistent with her heavy principles one episode and her "the prime directive is null" the next.
First Officer: Chakote. I can't stand his character, but he gets the F out of the way, yet stands up when needed. Riker is too connected and brash, Spock gets in the way with his logic. Kira is just too emotional and tied to her religion (and I'm a Catholic)
Chief of Security: Odo. I actually initially put Worf because of his stature and obediance, then Tuvok because he leaves no stone unturned. Yet, Odo can shape-shift and has an unmatched passion for justice. Meanwhile, Tasha is too busy overcompensating.
Doctor: Bashir. I wanted to pick Bones, but Bashir is advanced genetically. Both have the general same view, so I'll include them both. While the EMH is one of my favorite characters, he's vulnerable via programming and degradation. Meanwhile, Crusher is so whimsical and stubborn, as is Palaski.
Chief Engineer: Geordi LaForge. The guy is passionate of his ship inside and out. Scottie seems to rely on intuition too much, O'Brien is a subordinate of LaForge, and Torres is an emotional wreck even though she's got some unconventional means.
Bridge Officer: Data. While his programming nature is a vulnerability, he proves far too useful in so many situations. Dax has lots of experience but limited physical abilities, Uhura are great officers but aren't excessively useful.
Helm: Tom Paris. Yes, he's rogue, but he's got a knack. I'd take him over Sulu.
I know not all crews have the same specific roles, it's hard to pinpoint all crews with a counselor, or whatever seven of nine did.
However, what do you think of my decisions? Would you assign them differently?
