If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go with ?

Re: If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go wi

Transhuman space - Set 100 years from now, with genetic engineering causing massive shifts in the human gene pool, The setting is a intelligence unit and they must stop a assasination of the president, as it might set off civil war between unmodified and modified humans.

PS - the plot is that the unit FAILS, and the president does get killed, and then you do have a civil war.

A 1930s style SF campy, and everyone KNOWS it is campy, except that you have some real interaction with the main cast, and at least one of the villains is a serious threat and not total camp.

Wasteland - a plague takes out 98% of humanity, and a group of are trying to survive.

semi-reality tv - a group of young filmmakers are in a contest. start out with 20 filmmakers (or teams), and they are each given a task. (To make it easy, making the play "The Tempest" into a SF movie, thus public domain) show them designing the proposal, making pitches, teams eliminated as you go on. five are given 100,000 dollars to make a short version of their proposal. the best short gets greenlighted as a full film.

Another reality proposal. have 10 teams of filmmakers, including writers and so on. The opening episode they pull cards out of a hat, and randomly get a topic of a film. They have two weeks to write, film, and edit a film on the topic. The winning team (Best film that meets what they are supposed to film) gets a million dollar budget to make a film of their choice.

My idea would be 'Sunday's Day', the story of a free spirited waitress who has a different lover for every day of the week;

Monday; blue collar married cop
Tuesday; bad boy biker
Wednesday; sensitive handicapped left-wing activist art student
Thursday; millionaire politician handsome older man
Friday; bisexual male sports star (with a secret)
Saturday; beautiful in-the-closet older woman

And Sunday she spends on her own, needing her time apart. Their stories interweave and overlap and the series climaxes with her choosing which one she likes best. I see Michelle Tractenberg for the lead and Marcia Cross for Saturday, Maxwell Caulfield for Thursday and Paul Gross for Friday

The story of a happy hooker and a fabulous idiot. Wait a minute. That hits too close to home.

A spin-off to the Simpsons called Springfield.

I'm still loving my 'the iBender show' idea.

"faded celebrity desperation" - most celebrity reality shows are really about us seeing them humiliating themselves so we might as cut to the chase, the contestants would be presented with degrading challenges that they would have to undertake to remain on the show. Those would include:

"rim to win": The celebs would have to rim a homeless person.

"monkey tennis": A monkey is strapped to the celebs and they have to play a tennis match

"Who's poo are you?": The celeb have to eat each a mystery poo and work out which one of the other contestants it belongs to.

I'd love to do something either totally based on S.M. Sterling's Emberverse or something damn similar. People living in a world where all the technology has been rendered useless and they have to go back to swords and horses. Play up both some political and human drama in a post-technology world.

I'd also like to see something along the lines of Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy. The ramifications of people being sent to Mars and then being left to their own devices.

You know, I've never been a big Doctor Who fan,

And I find it amazing that the people lodging this complaint never watch the show!

But maybe I shouldn't be surprised. I hear people bitch and moan about things Rush Limbaugh says all the time, but when I ask "Have you ever actually listened to him?" I get [blank stare] Well, no, but [righteous indignation] I heard about it on the news and he shouldn't have said that!"

but there is no 'Kirk/Spock-like recognizability of a half-century old science fiction icon'.

At all.

Now aside from being Anglo-Saxons with penises, these guys don't seem to be following an iconic 'look'.
Of course, you managed to completely miss the couple or so Doctors that actually looked like William Hartnell...

...but whatever. You never watched...

He's an alien with a built-in excuse to be regularly recast. If the laws of his recasting require him to inexplicably be a Caucasoid with Received Pronunciation, then just let something go haywire in the process and ta-da! Moving on...
...but dang it! They shouldn't keep recasting him into an Evil White Male!:rolleyes:

Look, can I say something here?

I'm Black.

I don't give a shit that the guy's White.

If I don't care, why does it bother you so much??

Sorry to bring this up, but not one of the Doctors look or act remotely like Hartnell. To quote the First himself: "I've been replaced by a dandy and a clown." And it goes on from there.

A lot of what you say about regeneration is incorrect as well only as far as you seem to state them as fact. There does not seem to be any "genetic baseboard" used when regeneration takes place beyond using a base white male for commercial viability.

It seems they can regenerate into any form. As noted when Romana regenerated into different alien-though budget restrictive-forms before settling for Princess Astra's form. And then you have the 9th regenerated into 10th: "I can two heads." You can claim he was being silly, but I don't believe he was. And even if you want to go the silly talk path you have the last ep of Doctor Who "A Good Man Goes To War" that makes your whole argument 100% void. I won't spoil anything but if you have seen the ep, you know what I am speaking about.

Some of the 80s Doctors were somewhat inspired by Hartnell (Especially Colin Baker)-but of course didn't resemble him at all.

A well written 3D Animated TV Show for children set in 'MONOPOLY® Land' based on the popular board game, it'll be educational with subtle jokes and cultural references for the parents too, of course. :)
