If You Had a Starship...

First I'd use the transporter system to allow me to see the world.

Then I'd use the technology at my disposal to become a vigilante (a la Batman).

Once I got tired of that, I'd go exploring with some of my favorite people, at least those interested in what we might find out there in the black.

if I could go back in time to change one thing. I'd appear, beginning with Moses, to a few select important people of the various faiths as a prophet of God. I'd tell them the most important commandment of all: THALL SHALT NOT KILL IN THE NAME OF RELIGION. Then I'd return periodically and enforce it.

Well, I guess that just leaves race, culture, ideology, national pride, vendettas, and resource scarcity to fight over. What could go wrong?

I'd think that the fear of mysteriously suddenly disintegrating into a ball of fire would end the whole idea of killing each other.

...Do you mean before or after all of my holodeck orgies?

Well, since the Enterprise has multiple holodecks. We could do both at the same time. Just curious. After a holodeck orgy. When the holodeck turns off. What's left on the floor?

Depends on what (or who) you brought in with you, I suppose. But I think we just discovered what the worst job on the Enterprise is: Holodeck cleanup.

quite commendable, but moses is the same sort of fiction like kirk. anyway, let me guess, you would appear like the vorlons of b5 to them, sort of angel?

wouldn't be surprised if a star trek character becomes a deity one day.

wait... THEY'RE NOT??

Just kidding
As an aside. On the last Space Shuttle flight they should take a model of the Enterprise and launch it into space.

1) I'd set the phasers to a narrow (but still rather painful) beam and take potshots at celebrities I don't like from outer space.

2) I'd then float over San Francisco, with the guns set to auto-acquire and a holo-waiter keeping the drinks coming.

3) I'd beam up a girl I really liked and show her all the beauty and wonder of the universe.

4) I would NOT put Deanna at the helm.

Me, I'd want something like the Enterprise-J in size. I don't think it needs to be quite as flimsy looking -- I don't like the really skinny pylons for the warp-nacelles, and I'd probably want three or four engines. I'd like a little more depth to the vessel as well. I'd want to keep the crew fairly small relative to the size and instead use as much of the volume for supplies, equipment, reactors, some fuel and so on.

What I'd do with it? I'd probably want to go back in time and alter the path of history in a way that would be better for the United States and for Democracy in general. I'd want to rein the bankers in a great deal, perhaps prevent the Federal Reserve act from getting passed, perhaps expose the bankers for causing the 1907 banking crisis. I would also want to make the Iron Law of Oligarchy and the Iron Law of Institutions more popular in order to make people more aware as to how corruption arises, and why Communism is not a realistic option.

Once I'd reform history in the way that I like it and see fit, then I'd go find other star-systems that could either be terra-formed, and inhabited.

I'd find a planet like Iotia from "A Piece of the Action" and corrupt them with "Monty Python" tapes. Come back a few years later and find them all wearing bowler hats and doing the funny walk.

I'd have a small ship, nothing like the huge D or E. Lets say three times the size of the Delta Flyer. Maximum warp perhaps 7. Gotta have a Holosuite in there, nothing huge needed, size of a living room perhaps. Due to the lack of crew onboard, I'd need a basic self-repair system for maintenance onboard. A system like the one Scotty used on the original Enterprise on its trip to the Genesis world would be needed as well. Hopefully it would not overload as easy on a small ship.

Weaponry would be basic, but still some defense is needed. I think the best design for a smaller ship would be a single photon torpedo launcher, forward facing, on the bottom of the ship. Perhaps torpedoes could be replicated directly to the launcher? Dual phasers on the upper and lower nose of the ship and a single aft phaser would complete the offensive needs.

A single transporter pad would prolly be all thats needed for a ship of this size. I'm also guessing it'd have a limited range due to not having the power of a Galaxy class.

A huge problem is prolly the tiny warp core powering this ship. Shielding would be limited, as well as my only defense. Once shields were down, the single occupant would be easily transported off, more or less ending any threat I could pose.

If I had a starship,
I'd warp it in the morning,
I'd warp it in the evening,
All over this galaxy.
I'd warp it out of danger,
I'd fire out a warning.
I'd warp out love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this galaxy

Well I've got a starship,
And I've got a phaser,
And I've got a photon torpedo to fire
All over this galaxy!
It's the starship of justice!
It's the phaser of freedom!
It's the starship about love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this galaxy!
