If you could rewrite Voyager

The U.S.S. Voyager NCC-31011, a twenty-five year old Miranda-Class starship, is on patrol near the Badlands when they receive a distress call from a Federation freighter attacked by a Maquis ship that fled into the plasma storms. Giving chase, the ship is cut off as the plasma intensity increases, but just as they turn to withdraw the ship is subjected to a high-intensity scan that is then quickly followed by a massive displacement wave moving towards them. The ship is swept across the galaxy to the far side of the Delta Quadrant, during which forty members of the 250 crew are killed in transit whilst the survivors face a seventy-year journey home.

With several key personnel lost in transit, as such more inexperienced members of the crew are promoted up to fill the vacancies. Alone and with no support, the ship begins its long voyage home.

Commanding Officer: Captain Kathryn Janeway, Human
First Officer: Lt. Commander Tharrak ch’Kotai, Andorian (former Chief Engineering Officer)
Chief Security Officer: Lieutenant Tuvok, Vulcan
Chief Science Officer: Lieutenant Aiva Stadi, Betazoid
Chief Engineering Officer: Lieutenant B’Elanna Torres, Human/Klingon (former Engineering Officer)
Chief Flight Control Officer: Lieutenant (j.g.) Tom Paris (former Chief Shuttle Pilot)
Chief Medical Officer: Lieutenant (j.g.) Samantha Wildman (former Medical Officer)
Chief Operations Officer: Ensign Huang Kim (former Junior Operations Officer)
Guide: Jarak, Kazon
Cook/Morale Officer: Kes, Ocampa

So no more Maquis, huh?

No. They never really added anything to the overall plot any became token Starfleet by the end of the first few episodes. Put any crew through all the accumulated stresses and burdens of isolation and see how they deal with it--the Equinox is a prime example of how far civilised and intelligent people can fall when their backs are against the wall.

Personally, not sure I could handle a shuttle craft like the Delta flyer without puking. Even with inertial dampeners, the outside view would disorient me.

I'm ok with lights but motion...omg. As a kid I couldn't even play on a swing and don't get me started on those silly spinning tops. I also try to be the driver because an uneven foot puts me over.

One spin of that ship and I'd be finding the nearest toilet.

It must be much more comfortable than a small plane.

I don't fly much. Those nasty little bags in the back of the seat...they have my name written all over them. I'd rather drive 12 hours non stop thanks anyway.

I am just saying that after a period of adaptation I am sure we could get used to these crafts and then it would be really cool. Just imagine, you could get to the Moon or Mars in a matter of minutes!!! If we could send people to Mars in our current technological state, it would take them more than a couple of years just to get there and come back!

Me too. I went to a planetarium show this weekend and some parts made me dizzy
As a matter a fact, the planetarium was where I learned I couldn't handle much. I was 8. It was a nature and space reel and the only fun part was going over a meadow of yellow flowers which I remember so vividly. The space stuff with the sharp turns around? blech!

If I could rewrite: Q and the Grey.
I hadn't thought of it before because I got caught up in the silliness and perhaps going along with it helped me cope, but I felt it shrank the mystery of the Q into too human terms. And I just can't take it seriously as an episode. If it was suppose to be comedy it fell short too because why would you reduce Q into a joke? Why reduce Chakotay to a jealous man as much as we may want to gush about that (j/C people) I was expecting a chuckle from "chuckles". Would have made a LOT more sense when Q delivered his line. Yes it was a play on Chakotay but would have been much more of an oomph had he felt bothered by knowing Chakotay had a laugh at their expense but that's jmo.
Suzy Q was great! But if I remember Q correctly, wasn't there a gender talk...see I don't remember TNG well so I can't really argue a point here but I don't know...this episode needed an overhaul.
My favorite line: "Now start talking before I hurl you into the brig." I like confident, assertive chakotay.

Well, a lot of the Q episodes are comedies in TNG, but I think that they wanted to represent the "Continuum" again. It was sort of brilliant how they did it in Death Wish as the house along an endless highway in the desert, and they probably wanted to revisit the storyline and do it again, but yeah, it's pretty ridiculous in Q and the Grey. I still enjoy the episode.

I agree. I think the whole idea is marvelous. It just some of us are more earth bound than others, that's all. And someone needs to keep the home fires burning until you return. :)

I guess so. However, in Valliant when Jake discusses with a girl from the crew, she seems astounded that there are still people on Earth that never went to the moon, which means that it must be a rare occurrence.

I dont think its rare, just something some people don't want to do. There are some people now that don't want to fly but it's a very common thing

I suppose but I doubt they would be too thrilled if I lost my lunch all over their carpets, even if they are self cleaning.

And I've tried Gravol. May as well be a sugar pill. Maybe it's an inner ear thing. Who knows.

Do you think they are self cleaning? Or is there a guy who's job it is just to vacuum?

Someone here said Next Gen mentioned the ship is self cleaning. Personally I would have loved to see some grunt vacuuming the carpets just as the Borg showed up. Lol

The Q episodes are both exciting and funny at the same time.
I really like Q. Just look at his face in that TNG episde "Hide and Q" when he says: games? Dit anyone say games!"
Hilarious!

What if Seven had a twin? Or better yet... triplets! Wait! That reminds me of something...

That would have been season eight. Doc and Woodcotay are confused after a transporter accident/special swirly thing alert/unexplained occurrence leaves them with three 7's.

It'll be hilarious[ly bad].
