Being on a space station is absolutely one of the things I would NOT change. Hard to improve on the overall vision of DS9 but there's definitely some tweaks to be made here and there.
-First and foremost, Bashir is not a genetic augment, he's just a super talented doctor.
-Bajoran males are less boring.
-There are more Federation starships posted around DS9.
-No war with Klingons, that was a weak excuse to bring Worf into the case (Though I would keep Worf). Maybe they attempt to drive a wedge between the Federation and Kronos but Kronos isn't quite so idiotic about it and questions the whole thing more.
-The Dominion is as it was originally imagined, a version of the Federation that's totalitarian. It's not made up of three races, it's made up of many many races.
-Federation victory is not dependent on Prophet interference.
