If you could have ONE wish.......

If you could have one wish. Anything at all what would it be?

One rule you can't ask for more wishes.

Mine would be a time machine so I could leave this life and go far into the future and see what's out there.

If it were something more realistic I'd go the money thing too. Not too much but enough to be comfortable

The problem with money is that the Government is going to want to know how you came into that money. The best case scenario is that they're going to tax you, the worst is that they're going to freeze your assets and launch an investigation beacuse they don't believe that you received it from making a wish.
I'm wishing for the ability to teleport myself wherever I want to go.

Agreed. To escape from any investigations, take the money and run.
Preferably with the aforementioned time machine. ;)

This is true, at least with a functional time machine you could (appear to) legitimately make money via stock markets or just gambling. You'd still have to be careful not to appear too good because if everything you touch turns to gold sooner or later someone is going to notice. In fact it’d probably be sensible to lose big on the gee-gees on occasion, or buy stocks in firms you know are about to go under every once in a while. It’s like mediums who intentionally give out wrong answers, because counterintuitively it makes them seem more legitimate. If they were a fake, thinks the customer, surely they’d be right all the time, ergo they must be on the level.

Contrary to what I said above I wouldn’t want to be super rich or famous. Just bog standard rich would do :p

Teleportation is a good one, because if could be used philanthropically (there’s a kid drowning in the sea, teleport out and get her) or selfishly (hello bank vault). I’d want clear assurances about how the power works though. It’d be annoying to save yourself from being shot onto to find you’d teleported yourself inside a nuclear reactor…

Part of me would want to wish to be a bestselling author, yet part of me would baulk. I want to be Richard Castle, but annoyingly I want to do it on my own terms. Plus I’ve read way too many wish related stories. “I want to be a bestselling author!” I cry. Next morning I wake up to find I’m now EL James!

I forgot the most obvious wish...

A fully working USS Enterprise, or Voyager, or whatever ship you want.

... Diplomatic relations with the Vulcan High Command would be nice. (Does that count as just one wish if it implies a whole bunch of others?)

Please. Give me enough loot - like Gates's and Wozniak's combined net worth - I have no problem giving the IRS their cut (After hiring the best tax lawyer in creation to determine what that cut is.) Then I'll invest half what's left and lock the remainder in my Scrooge McDuck style money bin, which will be protected by very large men with very large caliber firearms.

To be an award-winning, best-selling author. That way, I'd have some money and would be remembered, at least for a little while, and yet wouldn't have to deal with people recognizing me.

Immortality, while never looking or feeling older than 25.
