Re: If you could create your own Star Trek series, what would it be li
I'd call my show 'Vulcan'. It would be a series or miniseries chronicling the tumultuous time on Vulcan at the time of Surak - political intrigue, global war, philosophical differences, etc.
Outline:
Vulcan is undergoing global war that threatens to annihilate the planet.
Surak is a brilliant scientist and early stellar traveler, alone on a ship. Regretting the violence that is overtaking his planet, he seeks a new home where those who wish to escape the warring can migrate. Instead, he finds something on another world that inspires him to save his species with a new philosophy. Maybe some great machine intelligence from which he learns mastery of logic. Or some ancient life form that has been around for eons. Give it religious-like connotations, but don't make it magic or religious, just a 'spiritual' experience. It doesn't really matter what it is.
He returns from his long journey as a messianic figure with the ability to save his planet.
Of course, there will be those who disagree. Ol' Surak gets challenged by the leader of a warring faction (in the battle arena where Pon Farr fights are held, of course, and with those spear/warhammer things). Surak refuses to fight and is slain. The leader looks around, expecting cheers and support, and sees only stoic, dispassionate faces. The peaceful Vulcans wordlessly begin preparing Surak's funeral, paying no heed to the barbaric warrior. He sneers in disgust, knowing he could never rule such a people, gathers his remaining followers, and dusts off for Romulus in the sleeper ships originally intended for those who would escape the war.
And, no black holes destroy the planet :P
