If you could base a new series of trek books on any one character..

Re: If you could base a new series of trek books on any one character.

I'd like to see a series that revolves around Captain Picard's son when he's in his early/mid 20's.

Re: If you could base a new series of trek books on any one character.

I didn't realize he was such an important character!

Really, I'm just not big on TOS books, but I'll definitely look for a copy of this. Thanks guys!

One of my favourite TrekLits. Vaughn, Sulu, Valeris..... Epic stuff.

And yes, a few novels about Vaughn's dealings with SI could be great, especially since we know he is aware of S31. Did they try and recruite him? Did he stumble upon one of their plans? What's the deal there?

A book series that begins with the end of Archer's captaincy of the Enterprise, and ends with the beginning of Kirk's.

What it covers, I'll leave up to the writer.

I don't really like TOS novels either, but I really enjoyed Cast No Shadow. Vaughn has a larger role than Spock and Sulu.

Captain Morgan Bateson (of course! ;) ), set sometime after the events of The Typhon Pact novels. He's put in command of a new ship and sent out to explore, with an (almost?) entirely new crew that is sometimes uncertain how to deal with their captain's "archaic" ways. :techman:

I like the Bateson idea, but I'd like to see a kind of "Buried Age"-style novel for him instead of a series. It could cover not only his 24th century time (2368-2385), but maybe even the 23rd century stuff leading up to the Bozeman's ill fated tour. But I guess that might be asking a lot for a character who only appeared on screen in one episode for a minute or two..

Preferably with a much more continuity-aligned retcon of Diane Carey's version of that tour (with the Typhon Expanse supposedly already being this well-explored region as far back as the 23rd Century...wha?).

Bateson and the Bozeman crew are portrayed in Department of Temporal Investigations: Watching the Clock in a manner consistent with the onscreen evidence (including the two female bridge officers).

Captain Bateson also appears in Cold Equations: Silent Weapons as the captain of the Sovereign-class USS Atlas, the Starfleet vessel that secretly ferried President Bacco to Orion for her summit with the Imperator of the Gorn Hegemony.

Being such a huge fan of Kes(and being subsequently P.O.'d beyond belief at her sudden axing), the average 7-year lifespan of a Trek series could have chronicled her entire life.

Ahem...

and ends with the beginning of Kirk's.
I doubt the series will run that long. But there are already a bunch of books dealing with the Pike years or Kirk's early years.

Yes, I'm aware of your books, but I was thinking of something more along the lines of The Lost Era series, feauring more than just the ENTERPRISE characters.

Rise of the Federation has a whole bunch of new characters and has an eye out for the future. For instance, Sarek put in his chronologically first appearance in Tower of Babel. He'll is a major character in 23rd and 24th century stories.

Imho, it isn't so much of a lost era, it is the ENT era.

Although, there's room (or time) to squeeze in Captain Robau and the Kelvin before TOS.
