If you could base a new series of trek books on any one character..

As the title suggests, if you could base a new series of Star Trek books on any one character (from tv or novels) who would it be and why? Be careful not to post any actual story ideas though as I believe we aren't supposed to do that in this particular forum. Just looking for what you think makes a character compelling enough for the role.

For me, I would love to see a set of novels featuring Nog. I think he's underutilized in the DS9 relaunch and he had some really great stories toward the end of the TV run that made him an incredibly compelling character. Plus, following someone who is not the Captain would give us the chance see a starship from a POV we typically don't get for entire novels. He's also not your prototypical Starfleet officer, but not in the way of someone like Captain Calhoun from New Frontier. Nog's issues have always hit much closer to home for me than most characters and he is always a compelling character study.

Anyway that is mine and it was a tough choice! Runner up nods go to The Doctor, Kasidy Yates, Guinan, and Si Cwan. Can't wait to read what everyone else thinks!

I don't know if I necessarily want a whole series, but I would love to see a biography of Guinan.

I was about to write a post, then I discovered that the one I planned was already written. (Except for that Okona idea, which I've never thought, but sounds like fun...)

Nanietta Bacco, as written by KRAD and David Mack. The fascinating thing about them is that while Mack captures Bacco's personality as written by KRAD perfectly, he brings out a very different facet of her -- particularly in Zero Sum Game, where she's much darker and more morally ambiguous in her choices than she is when KRAD writes her, yet it still feels 100% like the same character. KRAD and Mack bring out different sides of the character, and it would be fascinating to read a full series chronicling her presidency.

LaForge as a young command-division officer right out of the Academy and until he came to the Enterprise.

The Doctor from Voyager. He is one of most interesting characters (some would say the most) on the show. I'd like to know his thoughts about his "life" on the ship and how he felt about the crew. More like a biography than a series though.

I hadn't even considered the idea of a biography type story for someone. Following the major events of their life in such a way. A Data biography is one that comes to mind. Tales of an Ensign Data, or a Data before entering the Academy would be really interesting to read.
