If this is how the NuTrek Enterprise looks, what about the TMP ship?

If this is how it looks "now", what will the Enterprise look like when and if it gets up to the TMP era?

I know, we may never see it, but if this new design is, in this new parallel universe, their version of the TOS Enterprise, what changes would it go thru to fit in with the "18 months" of "redesigning and refitting"?

Maybe this is another opportunity for the digital artists here to do yet another redesign of the new movie's ship.

(Personally, I'd LOVE them to jump ahead in the next film to the post-TMP but pre-TWOK era, and do stories that we never saw but know must have happened. This will leave damage to the timeline as minimal as possible, letting us imagine that except for XI's events, everything else happened exactly as we remember.)

My guess would be that it wouldn't change, and we'd have to accept the new look co-existing with the old.

Nah.

After all those years certainly Starfleet would have still come up with updated designs. Flatter nacelles, for example.

I'd imagine they'd switch to similar looking warp engines as the TMP Enterprise but it'd still be curvy like the new Enterprise. I'm more curious as to what the interior and costume designs would look like. I hated the military atmosphere they went with TWOK and onward with Kirk crew movies. The stiff red uniforms and dark and cold appearing interiors. It works contrary to the optimism that makes up Star Trek. The uniforms from TMP were the best out of all the Trek series/movies. It maintained a minimalist look while appearing more formal than TOS uniforms. Right balance between TWOK and TOS uniforms.

This is still rather embryonic, more chrome and sponsor logos are planned, as well as some very groovy lighting. And LOTS of windows.

This one's really more a Future of Trek topic, or perhaps Trek Art or Trek Tech, depending upon how you want to approach it. However you look at it, it's not really to do with the movie we're talking about here, so closing.
