If the Federation had peacefully joined the Dominion, how many things would have changed?

Of course, Star Trek humanity is extremely good in anything once they put their mind to it. They could try to replace the Vorta as the Dominion's privileged species, by sucking up to the Founders even better than they do, proving to be more versatile diplomats, etc ... Just for the challenge of it...
