^Ah yes, the standard "it's just a few fanboys" dodge...
It really isn't a dodge when there is so much evidence to the contrary. Even here, the movie is well rated.

To look at this purely as a numbers game...
- 100 fans in a room at the Vegas convention last year called Into Darkness a failure.
IIRC, it was at the end of a panel about why JJ Abrams' movies were terrible. People who liked his films wouldn't have been reprsented.

I had a pretty good one last night but I'm not sure it was the best...![]()

What, no RottenTomatoes graphic?

Do I need to tell my New York Post story again?
I mean, OK, I get that, but it's Muppets. I really don't intend to sound totally ignorant on this and I'm fine admitting I've never exactly looked this stuff up -- and I have a lot of respect for the hard work that goes into that production -- but I can't imagine The Muppets back on TV is going to cost the boatloads of money Trek would.
I take them with the spice mines of KesselOkay, short version:
Not long after that silly "poll" hit the news, I was contacted by a reporter from The New York Post who was doing a story on how all us old-school Trekkies supposedly hated the new movies. I spent at least a half an hour on the phone to this guy explaining that this was hardly the case, but he didn't want to hear it. He pretty much admitted that the slant of his article had already been decided in advance and that he was just looking for more quotes to "prove" that all of fandom hated the new movies.
When I refused to pay ball and give him the sound byte he wanted, he asked me to suggest another professional TREK writer who might have a different opinion on the subject. Again, I declined to cooperate.
Sure enough, when the article finally ran a few days later, the gist of it was that (surprise!) "Trekkies Hate New Trek Movie!" And the only quote from me was the part where I grudgingly admitted that, okay, some fans were unhappy with the reboot.
Moral: take any media reports with a big grain of salt.
I want to believe.I mean, yes, any source is questionable these days. Because its all about sensationalism and clickthroughs and all of that. So who and what do we trust? I don't trust a lot of bloggers because frankly, so much if it is clickbait.
Do we take the old X-Files adage: Trust no one?
