If Spock makes a cameo in this, should they use Zachary Quinto?

If Spock make a apppearance on Discovery. It most likely will be someone else instead of Quinto. Which would mean a story that involve the Enterprise.

Flashback?

15 year old Burnham, equals 5 year old Spock.

I don't care how hot and young looking you may think Quinto is, he cannot pass for a 5 year old, even with CGI.

They should recast Spock and get a woman to play him, Starbuck-style, just to eff with people.

When does child Spock get betrothed to child T'Pring?

Before they are 10?

Michael would be at the ceremony?

Actually would Michael have had her own bonding ceremony to some Vulcan boy?

(She may have been too old by the time Sarek took the human as his ward?)

Once the telepathic connection is established, it doesn't matter if you are biologically Vulcan or not... Unless Vulcans and Klingons interbred for a while a few centuries ago, which is how B'Elanna was so receptive to the Vorik's sex-meld.

If they were to have Spock cameo, I’d love to see them use the same technology they used for Rogue One and have Leonard Nimoy appear. I believe (I could be wrong) that Nimoy’s son Adam said somewhere that he’s be interested in such an appearance.

I’m also a fan of Zach Qunito and would welcome an appearance as Spock.

Pike looked young in The Cage. Anson Mount would be a better fit for Jeffrey Hunter Pike.
Oh yes, the resemblance is uncanny!

Personally I'd prefer if the TOS main characters were no recast. I didn't like the Kelvinverse recast and I don't want to see recasting in Discovery, whether it was those same actors or different ones. It is big universe, we don't need to see Kirk or Spock, or if we do, a few second cameo using old footage and CGI wizardry will suffice.

Though if they want to use CGI to create TOS character, the Discovery style hologram communication offers an interesting opportunity. As the holograms are translucent and a bit glowy, it can be used to conceal small imperfections in the recreations. Though I find recreating dead actors a tad macabre. If they want to CGI recreate TOS characters, I'd prefer if they'd stick to those whose actors are still alive, perhaps with the original actor providing the voice acting.

I'm not so touchy about characters that we saw only in few episodes, so recasting Pike is fine (and Anson Mount would indeed be perfect) and I liked Frain's Sarek well enough. Though there it seems unnecessary for the character to be Sarek specifically, it might have been better had they just created a new Vulcan character for Frain. And speaking of Vulcans, I'd love to see Jolene Blalock back as T'Pol, as dodgy as ENT was, she did good a job.

Maybe, but Quinto is 40 now and Spock should be about 25 in 2256. They can make him look younger, but it would be easier to get an actor who actually is in that range. I'd do the same with Pike and the rest of the Talos IV era Enterprise crew should the 1701 make an appearance. I just hope they don't crapify the design of the Constitution class the way they did with the Klingon ships and many of the Fed ships.
