If Rodenberry were alive today, what would he think of Star Trek?

What the fuck?! The Enterprise wasn’t supposed to be built on the ground! Why does the Kelvin’s registry number start with 0? JJ has RAPED my childhood!!!
There. I think that is pretty accurate. ;)

Seriously though, I think hed be pretty proud that his creation lasted this long and people still watch it.

I guess after a while people get afraid to say no. I mean it wasn't like those ideas weren't there before. Lucas' first ideas of Star Wars had magic crystals as the source of the Force. The people reading it said "umm no. Try again".
And you know this about people telling him "umm no" about the crystals for a fact? Source, please.

TOS-Era Roddenberry would have liked DS9 a lot. The politically correct obsessed pacifist he became during TNG would not have liked it at all.

It's just remarkable how frequently Dead Gene agrees with the posters who invoke him for his opinion. :guffaw:

Hey look. It's yet another Dennis drive by condescending bitch post that makes snide attacks at people who've never done a damn thing to him.

Why don't you go back to TNZ, where you get owned by teenagers every day.

Well, with the one hand, you hold the skull, and with the second hand, you move the jaw, and...

I do see Thrall's point on GR, and agree mainly with the Ron Moore assessment.

So you think my opinions match what Roddenberry's would be? I'm honoured you think so highly of me.

He's the sci-fi Jesus!

Right, so who's sci-fi Muhammad? or Sci-Fi Moses? I mean if we're gonna have one, we may as well have all three.

Muhammad came after Jesus, so we'll call him George Lucas.

We have to work Jules Verne and HG Wells in there somewhere, before Jesus. If I knew enough about religion I'd hand out their equivalents but I don't, and I'm not even religious, so I won't. I'll leave that to someone else.

Hey, when you post foolish things people will be amused and are likely to comment on it. Welcome to the Internet.

This was completely unnecessary and over the top. One warning for flaming, send comments via PM.

Whatever his faults may have been--and I see only the postmortem type comments on that topic-- Gene Roddenberry had originality and guts. I will always admire him.
