"If only" Hollywood would do this...

Make a faithful adaptation of Tarzan of the Apes.

Make a new Doc Savage film.

Do Riverworld right.

Make Robinson's Mars Trilogy as a pay cable series

Produce my Hogans Heroes script

I'd like to see faithful adaptations of the following:
The original Ian Fleming James Bond novels plus Colonel Sun and Devil May Care, set in the period the books were set in.
The Dresden Files.
The Repairman Jack series.

I'd like to see a remake of "The Shadow". I know there have been several attempts and one with Sam Rami attached recently but I would love to see it happen.

I'd love to see the Foundation "trilogy" adapted in a multi-year mini-series. Forget the prequels and sequels, only the original short stories. Truth be told, I think the only way we'll get a faithful Foundation series is a "fan production". I hope someone takes it up someday.

And I'd love to see Zelazny's first Amber series done as well. I'm surprised no ones done anything with it yet. So much freedom, and you have the "demi-gods walk among us" vibe, parallel worlds, time travel, fantasy, sci-fi, magic...all of it.

And of course, I'd love to see Smith's "Lensman" series done as a long mini-series. Find a good balance between an update, and the pure, old school space opera that made it fun.

- A Battlestar Galactica feature film, but in TOS style (i.e. not nuBSG).

- Film versions of Philip K. Dick's Lies, Inc. and Counter-Clock World.

I did wonder about the possibility of creating animation for the 8-hour BBC radio adaptation from the 1970s. However, I'm not happy about some of the sound effects, especially those of electric golf-ball typewriters used in the Encyclopaedia Galactica sequences. It might be possible to use advanced sound editing to mitigate that problem, of course.

@Harvey you know that Duncan is planning to do "Mute" as a graphic novel before he films it? It was announced last week.
[cynic] That's clever -- that way the movie will be an adaptation of something, so it'll be more likely to get the greenlight. [/cynic]

When I was younger I saw a film called 55 Day at Peking :

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056800/

I would love to see a film like that set on a distant planet with the Chinese replaced with a different race (Ala Avatar) with the various embassies of the colonizing nations forced to work together to fend off a massive rebelion their quarelling governments had a hand in beginning.

The film did a fairly good job at showing that both sides were to blame for the revolt but the story centered around the minnimal embassey militaries and civilians having to work together instead of apart to survive and hold out for the more superior Western reinforcements to break through and reach them.

A modern SciFi film like this would be epic if handled the same way and not turned into just a Michael Bay style blow things to hell movie. The original is slightly dated but was more of a character piece with the action scenes only there to highlight the threat they had to endure.

I really think such a movie would be truly fun to watch.

I'd really like to see a proper adaptation of Robert E. Howard's Conan stories. Conan the Barbarian was a good movie and did a decent job of capturing the spirit of Hyboria, but as an actual adaptation it was terrible. And Schwarzenegger was no Conan.

I know there's a new adaptation set to release later this year, but based on the plot summaries I've seen, I'm not expecting much faithfulness in that adaptation, either.
I'd love to see the Dresden Files get proper treatment.
Same here. I've even got most of how a Storm Front feature film could play out pictured in my mind. Too bad I'm not a screenwriter. :ouch:

From all accounts it sounds like Kevin Smith is retiring after Hit Somebody so in 5 or 6 years I want Hollywood to give him the money and ambition to make Clerks III.

Would love to see a faithful adaptation of Rendevous with Rama done as a mini series on HBO or Showtime.
Would love a new animated Trek series done clone wars animation style.

Movies made of:

Stranger in a Strange Land
the Moon is a harsh mistress
Guns of the South
1632
Dies the fire
Island in the Sea of Time
Rescue Party
Dreadstar

Asimov's "The Martian Way". It's got martian colonists undertaking an epic journey to Saturn in order to harvest ice from its rings to eliminate the need to import water from Earth, something which is being used by an Earth politician as a wedge issue.
