If I was a Billionaire.

i would build the tucker hotel or rather a chain of them.
named after sf writer and fan wilson "bob" tucker they would be the perect hotels for fannish conventions.

they would of course cater to others on non fannish convention weekends but the staff would be trained on not to freak at people wearing comstumes and how to read a room block so they dont tell people the hotel is full when there is space left within the block.

i would set up a large house so people i knew who were having problems would have place to live.
but while rent free they would be encouraged to pay back in other ways. do community work, help to keep up the place.

several organizations and charities would be very happy.

i would not just give money away but set up grant programs for some people who want to go back to school,, get special training ect.

help set up some trusts for medical research that is neglected.

set up a program for pet insurance for people who would make good pet owners but are afraid of doing so due to financial circumstances.

i would travel around the world on ships and trains.
also hire drivers.

I'd also build new MLS stadiums for every soccer team that didn't already have their own. Such as the DC United - you think they want to keep playing at that shitpile RFK? Don't know what the status on Poplar Point is but they deserve to have it.

I guess my ultimate goal is to eliminate the multipurpose stadium concept. Not just the baseball/football ones (thankfully, most of those are gone), but *all* of them. Each sport should get its own place to play, and if I'm rich, they will! :techman:

-Organise the first TrekBSS Group Sex Meetup. It's been disussed before, and with unlimited funds there's no reason not to get it organised

Do we really have to wait until someone becomes a bajillionare to get this one going?
Well no, but I myself am very poor and could not organise such a thing. And more importanly in the event that such a meetup too place it would be very likely that it took place in the US, to which I can not afford to travel at the moment since I am, as said, veeeery poor.
Quit working
You know, I thought about it, but I just couldn't do that. I have a bit of my dads workaholic genes. What I would do is just work with stuff I find fun.

Listening to the radio this evening (well, it was this week's Just A Minute :bolian:) the subject of "things money can't buy" came up. I think Liza Tarbuck summed it up perfectly: time***, peace of mind, happiness, and love. I think that if I had a billion dollars [If I had a billion dollars - some backing singer] I still wouldn't be able to achieve those things. :)

*** Then of course Gyles Brandreth had to spoil things by insisting that by getting a watch you can both literally and figuratively buy youself some time...

^ Brandreth spoils things by...well...existing. Curse his smugossity and rancid jumpers!

Well my peace of mind and happiness would certainly be eased by not having to worry about paying my bills.
