IDW's TNG: Ghosts - Any good?

This is one of the few IDW Trek books that I didn't pick up. I flipped though it today and nothing really jumped out at me.

Did anyone read it? Was it any good?

The plane arrives in Australia today.

I'm happy to support IDW by buying all their ST stuff because without sufficient buyers there's no future product. If an issue #1 was truly apalling I might reconsider that strategy, but very often a comic mini-series will improve as the instalments come out.

I read half of the first issue tonight after work, but kinda lost interest and went to watch the "making-of" features on the second disk of "Star Trek."

The art isn't the best I've ever seen from IDW, and the fact that I was distracted halfway through reading 22 pages of story doesn't speak too highly for that aspect either. I'm voting "meh."

Ghosts isn't wonderful as a comics read. It seems everywhere the E-D goes, Picard must negotiate with the people there. Too bad Kirk isn't around so they could duke it out for the pretty girl like in the good old days.

I finished the next day. My vote is still "meh."

I have to say the art is really quite bad in places. The character likenesses are not very good, and the drawing of the E-D on the first page is truly awful. And, IMHO, the aliens just look dumb.

^Another "meh" vote over here. I've been buying everything trek related that IDW has been releasing, and I found the first issue of this series very run-of-the-mill. I felt like I had read a story exactly like this one at some point. The art is decent in some places, with the likeness of Picard being pretty close, but the other officers don't really look like themselves. I'm a fan of Zander Cannon (especially his work on Top10), but felt disappointed with his script.

Based on this first issue, I think i'll hold off on buying anymore issues of "Ghosts". Hopefully the next trek offering from IDW will be better.

Despite the good artwork, I've had trouble finishing this book. It's just not that interesting.
