IDW at Baltimore con?

With the Baltimore Comic-Con now less than a month away (October 10-11), I wonder if anyone in this forum knows if anybody from IDW Publishing will come for a visit.

I know they're based in San Diego, which was great for people who live in southern California, but it would be fun to chat a bit with someone from the company and maybe an artist or a whiter or two.

I have no idea if they will be there but even if they are I would say there's a good chance you won't find anyone in a panel that knows anything about upcoming Trek. I went to two IDW panels at Wondercon. One was generic, what's coming up but it was the non-media tie in work and they said they knew nothing about media tie in comics. Then I went to a panel that had comics that tied into movies including Countdown, Transformers and GI Joe and they said they only know about movie tie in comics, they knew nothing about non-movie media tie in work. I guess they are heavialy segratated at IDW or something...

Baltimore Comic-Con draws the major publishers and most of the second tier, not just for the convention but also for meetings and the retailer summits with Diamond that are scheduled around the same time. Chances are IDW will have some sort of presence for those reasons, though it may not be a particularly large presence nor a presence that would give you insight into Star Trek publishing plans. I really doubt that IDW would bring in talent off of, say, the Star Trek books for Baltimore Comic-Con.

Anyhoo, if someone were really nitpicking a post, they could question why the poster wanted to chat with a "whiter" or two. Just a mistake, no biggie.

That's too bad since the Balmer con gets a large number of guests and attendees, and since the start, the con has grown substantially. Maybe it's just that this is one of the few cons I can drive to, but every year is just plain fun. Sigh.

While he's not an employee, Steve Conley (a staple at the show) has done art on some of the Star Trek series that IDW has put out. He might both be able to tell you about upcoming developments to which he is privvy and IDW staff that are in town for the show and/or the Diamond Comics Retailer's Summit following the show.

Randy, I was at the Baltimore Comic-Con today, and outside of a few creators who have books with IDW, I didn't see any official IDW presence at the convention, and certainly no one that was connected with the Star Trek books.

I did, however, have a lovely conversation with Lora Innes, the writer/artist of IDW's The Dreamer, which is the best romance/Revolutionary War comic book that you're not reading.

Okay, yes, I admit it. I geeked out over getting to meet her and gush over The Dreamer. I geeked out, like a freakin' fanboy.
