ID4..two?

Just watched this on my BLURAY over the weekend...still holds up. I keep hearing rumblings about a possible sequel. Do you think a sequel would go over and, if they did make it, where do you think the story would go???

Rob

Every few years there are rumblings of a sequel to ID4, but really where would the story go? Another alien race shows up? About the only way i can see it working would be if its set during the first film, so not really a sequel.

Its probably worth looking at the idea's they had for a third Stargate film, given that their story for Stargate 2 was reworked into ID4.

I think an ID4 sequel would be a horrible idea, there isn't really anywhere for the story to go.
Unfortunately that hasn't stopped Hollywood before.

:brickwall::brickwall::brickwall:

NO IT WASN'T!

For fuck sake! ID4 was not NEVER planned as any Stargate movie. I don't know why people can get that through their heads.

The second ID4 was actually moving along a few years back and Will Smith said he didn't do sequels (Only really bad ones like Hancock and MIB) so that thankfully killed the sequel.

Yeah, it appears the idea for ID4 was conceived in response to questions regarding Emmerich's disbelief in aliens while promoting "Stargate."

ID4 is still the best remake of "War of the Worlds" ever made. :p

For the Sequal if they really wanted to a REAL twist they would have the initial alien's reason for taking over and strip mining earth be that they were the last of their kind on their giant city ship and they were moving from system to system, trying to stay ahead of an even worse baddie.

You would have the giant city ship only moving at a small fraction of the speed of light and their plan was to take over earth, resupply their city ship using our resources and manpower (which would take around 15 years), then get the hell out of here before the really nasty guys show up.

We kinda screwed that plan up and now we have to face the really nasty badass aliens they were running from! Add to that one of the invasion ships survived in south America and has taken over a large portion of brazil and in the sequal we have to work with them after years of fighting them to repel the even worse bad guys!

How is that idea?

If it had been done in the 90s, I'd be excited. To announce it now would just be a big "WTF?"

I like it, Meredith. :)
I second!:) That's a pretty great idea, but then how the HELL do they defeat the even ''BADDER'' aliens? humans barely won the first time around.

This is too easy...RED MATTER!!

So it's pretty much the same thing except some of the aliens lived in SA?

I love full scale Alien invasion movies, and I would love an ID4 sequel.

But I would love it more if someone decided to make John Ringo's Posleen books into a series of movies. That would top ID4 in every way.

I remember reading an ID4 "prequel" book that was basically about Okin's getting recruited to Area 51. Thought it'd of made a good follow-up but to be done right it'd have to be a bit more "cerebral" and taken a bit more seriously than the mindless action and fun of ID4.

That third Stargate movie reworked....its called 10,000 B.C.

Seriously I don't know that but I swear it very easily could have been.

Here's another idea - the ships that were destroying cities weren't completely destroyed but only damaged. And now the surviving aliens are really pissed off.

I thought I read an idea somewhere that another invasion would occur. This time everyone disbands for some reason(tension, disagreements whatever) and they have get back together.

Actually I recall reading that that was a proposed storyline for a sequel around the time MIB came back. It was made into a novel instead. In it the aliens surviving the crashes of their starships started attacking Earth again - essentially instead of the shock troops landing on Earth they had all the aliens to deal with.

I'd take the series into the future several decades, where humanity has rebuilt their cities and upgraded their technology by reverse engineering the crashed alien tech now that it's not a secret studied by only a few. It's revealed that the invasion fleet from the first film was only the first wave, sent to prep the planet for the full-scale colonization effort that was to come later.

Show how the invasion changed humanity and despite the horrible losses had a positive effect of uniting the world in a common goal, and vastly improving technology and quality of life, only to have this new attack threaten to tear apart everything they have achieved.

It would allow the humans to still face overwhelming odds, but not have to rely on a deus ex machina of a computer virus to be able to challenge the aliens in combat. Show battles on other planets/moons, on the ground against the bio-mechanically armored troops and alien tanks, underwater, etc; not just air battles.
