^According to this article at Ex Astris Scientia, it was the ENT episode "Unexpected."
You forgot the fact the every alien race seems to have a single personality trait that is pervasive throughout the entire species...e.g. The paranoid species, the sexually repressed species, the aloof species, the inquisitive species, the shy species, etc... It's enough to make me wonder what single distinctive personatilty trait pervades throughout the entire human speciesTemis the Vorta said:
...Abrams is thinking a bit further outside the box than some have (eg, the tradition that alien planets have one race, one language, one climate, and only Earth has more).

I think the main reason for shooting in Iceland is that all of its varied landscapes are so close to each other. The whole island is quite a bit less than HALF the size of Wyoming, while still possessing many different types of shooting locations (mountains, coastline, glaciers, volcanoes, etc). You can find these locotions in Canada or the U.S., but you would need to travel hundreds or maybe thousands of miles to be able to film in all of these varied locations. In Iceland, everything is withing a relatively short drive.
Add Temis' point about prying eyes and Fraknlin's point about costs in the U.S., and Iceland seems like a logical choice.

And what's somewhat unique about the Icelandic people is that their surname is derived from their father's first name. Thus, your correspondent's children's LAST names will be Hallbjörnson and/or Hallbjörndottir (Hallbjörn's Son and/or Hallbjörn's Daughter). And your correspondent's Father's FIRST name was probably Guðjón (Guðjón's son = Guðjónson)
This is a little like some Asian cultures.
'mostlyharmless', do I have this right? You would know better than me.

Another funny thing is that everyone is listed in the phonebook by their first name!
Just feed it to the Kirk and Scotty actors... it'll be a perfect fit!Franklin said:
OK, as long as we're digressing or this thread is winding down, on "No Reservations" (a show on the Travel Channel in the U.S.), I saw Anthony Bourdain eat this thing bought one night at an outdoor kiosk/food stand in the streets of Reykjavik.
It's the kind of thing you eat after a night of drinking. Mashed potatoes, a hot dog, I think some shrimp, and other things wraped in a tortilla. Do I have that right? Do a lot of folks really eat that? (By the way, to be fair, he ate some darn good food there, too.)
But whatever this "thing" is, keep it away from the actors when Trek shoots there. Eating only a couple of them would have to put on some weight that would be noticeable on screen.![]()
