Ian Levine's "Downtime" re-shoots -- Whatever happened?

Thought I'd skip about and saw Search Out Space and, you know what. I probably not believe it when I say this. But, I enjoyed it. Indeed, I actually liked it.

Yes, the two different Sylvesters are stark contrasts and Shit Levine didn't even try to match the outfits in the slightest, nevermind the hair style. But least its better than a recon, lol. Indeed, I enjoyed this because I liked the Seventh beating the Toymaker (yeah, he's in this) and utilizing the elements of the programme from 1990. Of the disparate and desperate projects that he tries to unite different together, this one's by far the best.

Now, I've no idea where and how this could fit in the Doctor's timeline. But, I'd venture a guess and say this fairly early, between seasons 25 and 26, despite Sylv looking old, as you can imagine Ace experiecing the events but really not remembering them anyway. Oh, and K9? Well, maybe the Toymaker took the K9 from that Australian programme, out of time of course.

So yeah, this was fairly alright. No reason it was stretched to two episodes, and the Celestial Toymaker extended flashback was pointless to the extreme (you know RTD should've had that in The Giggle, after all, to remind us all). Could've worked perfectly well as a slightly extended single-part episode.

Oh, and the actor playing the Toymaker. He was alright. He's no Michael Gough or david bailey, but like Neil Patrick Harris, he's his own thing. I suppose I like the character very much?

You can fit Ace in anywhere, since her appearances in the recent series seem to go with her having not actually developed much emotionally from 18 to 60. It's frankly worrying that Sophie can still pull off "troubled teen" so well when she's over a decade older than me.

Semi-releated to the thread, via Ian Levine but he and his 'fans' have been harassing a youtuber I watch because he dare criticize some AI reconstructed episodes

Wow. Comments from Levine himself in which he proves what a self-absorbed moron that he is. We should all go there and tell him ourselves what we think of his efforts and his bullying. I've already given my opinion of Downtime.

On Facebook and Twitter Levine compares his critics to "MAGA Thugs.":ack:

I thought the first video, about the AI reconstructions, was very fair, as he was engaging with the work and criticizing the ghoulishness of the thing (which others, like Mark Ayres, have already done).

Does anyone else wonder if there is a correlation between the above videos and the Levine archive being released on YouTube a week later?

Here's the thing, about why I am interested in these projects, why I watch them, etc: He's not behind them. Other fans pour their heart and soul in them and he basically just bankrolls them. So, I'm in total agreement with Nth Doctor, but I don't regret watching Search Out Space as I think whoever wrote those segments (who is not Levine) did a good job.

Because let's face it. Ian Levine is pathetic, sadistic, extremely unstable human being who never finds any fault on his own end, is not interested in having any healthy relationship with anyone beyond his TV heroes, has a very limited intelligence and obvious difficulty grasping basic realities.

He blocked me on twitter for keep asking him if he condones the deaths of Palestinian children in the genocide going on in Gaza. He kicked me out of his FB group because I mentioned that his AI recons are not streaming or indeed release friendly, fun as they are to look at. And he's continuously proclaimed his support for Israel's genocide and his open Islamophobia.

I don't know what the story behind this, but I have no doubt Shit Levine is capable of this because he's, ultimately, a bully. He's exactly the kind of person the Doctor fights against, and he can't realize it.

Fuck him, his toxicity and vile, vile behaviour.

Shit Levine's Destiny of the Doctors is... by far the worst DW "serial" I've ever seen. All I can about it is, it doesn't make a lick of sense. The McCoy scenes are badly lit (as well as badly composited greenscreen work, but that's typical of all these McCoy/Levine projects), badly written, badly acted...everything I said above for episode 1 applies for the rest. And you'd think it would at least edit in a McCoy/Ainley interaction when the Master is put behind bars...nope! Its awkwardly edited between the video game scene and the opening of the TV Movie with McGann! Someone was on acid doing this, because nothing makes sense at all, and I felt like a madman trying to understand anything!

Avoid this at all costs! By far the worst of these things, without question!

The thing I find kind of ironic about this, is that he compares the people criticizing his work to the MAGA cult, but in this statement he sounds a lot more like a MAGA type than a democrat.

Sadly, both the archive.org and now the YouTube channel hosting of Levine's work have gone down. Its sad because I didn't manage to get them all, but what can you do.

I downloaded some of the Youtube stuff a couple weeks ago and forgot about it. Having had a quick look now at a few of the productions, I plan to forget about them for a much longer time.

Was there anything there that anyone ever thought was worth watching? Maybe I've just randomly selected the most awful examples of bad photoshop and primitive animation in the bunch.

From what I've seen:

Dimensions in Time (still a frickin' abomination, but at least it makes some sense now)
Search Out Space
(its not better or worse than the segments its been edited from, but I appreciate the effort to make a consise story out of it)
Gallifrey
(its largely mediocre, but for my money still better than Timelash)
Lost in the Dark Dimension (for Peter Miles, mostly - he's the best thing in it, and McCoy's good for however long he's in this)
Death Comes to Time (mouths moving makes a big difference, imo)

But clearly, he should have not bothered with the efforts if he meant for them to be commercially available. As fan efforts, they're innocuous. But pay money for his versions of Downtime and Destiny of the Doctors?

Insanity.

I wonder if he originally intended for this to be an ongoing series, or if the pettiness of Ian Levene and his cult inspired it to become so. More likely, the original videos got a lot of hits and he's making money so he's milking the algorithm cow for all it's worth. Either way, I would say Levine brought this on himself.

Wait. Back up. Levine did his own edit of Death Comes to Time?!? Death Comes to Time?!?

Like, I mean, I enjoy a great deal of Death Comes to Time--taken on its own terms, it's compelling--but it's so wildly... off from anything like Doctor Who that I can't imagine why Levine would do his own fan edit, unless it's to force it into something closer to canon (like,. cut out Ace being granted a TARDIS and becoming a Time Lord, and the Doctor's death).

It all falls into Shit Levine's mantra that if it has visuals, it counts. He even counts Paul McGann's Shada even though he doesn't really count (to put it midly). Aside from the mouths moving, he did cut the episodes to 25 minutes format. Surprisingly he DIDN'T alter the ending, which is huge. I'd read eons ago that he had Sylv record a coda where the Doctor survives, but that was just a myth? Anyway, the flick is the same, but the standard seasons 24-26 opening and cut into 25 minute format.
