I would love to think..

After the ending of ST Nemesis , And data was killed but his memories "backed up to B4" that when they returned home that Commander Bruce Maddox from "The Measure of a man" after years of Research. Would help B4 become more like data or even. "Restore" data. i think that would be a good story

I still wont be the same for me if the B4 becomes like data or the new data. I know data is an android but for me he was an individual shaped by his experiences. Dumping all of his memories into the B4 will not be data to me.

I would like to think that one day the cast of TNG will reform to do another film, hopefully involving the 're-birth' (so to speak) of Data. I doubt that Patrick Stewart will do another ST film without Data, it just wouldn’t be the same. But then it would get panned for being a rip off of 'search for spock'. Who knows... all I know is that I was gutted when data died and would like nothing more then for him to return.

I second that. Data was a good character and had some good solid story lines. I wish they could have just found a way to switch bodies (in universe) and use a different actor since Spiner got tired of playing Data.

Wow, seriously? I can't immagine anyone else playing Data.

The thing I've always hoped for if B-4 is one day able to get full access Data's memories and capabilities is that B-4 would become his own person and NOT Data 2.0. In fact, I would think Data would prefer that for his brother - B-4 would choose his future, not just become an echo of Data.

According to whats being released in those STXI comics, which are supposedly tied into the new movie, B4 does become Data, and Data becomes Captain of the Enterprise.

From a moral standpoint, I would have also preferred B4 have become a unique individual and Data in that manner stay dead, though I disagree with the decision to kill Data in the first place and so undoing it via B4 is somewhat appealing.

I think the reason the tie-in comics chose to resurrect Data as the Captain of the Enterprise is because of his interaction with Spock from 'Unification,' and the fact that Data was in many ways an intentional copy of the Spock character. Having him aid Spock resonates with that.

Maybe, but it would take the bite out of the pointless, moronic death of the ONE character who should never have died.

Wouldn't have to be. Re-activation could take place in the second scene. Start the movie with Picard welcoming Riker and the crew of the Titan aboard the E. Riker presents a box to Geordi with (an intact) Data's head. He informs Picard that the Romulans found it in the wreckage after the battle and gave it back as a show of thanks when the Titan arrived. Cut to Geordi attaching Data's head to B-4's body (a la Time's Arrow) and there ya have it. Data, good as new. Let the adventure begin.

That presumes Spiner would come back. I'm reasonably confident he wouldn't since that idiotic 'death' was based on his desire to not come back, although it seems he wanted to be left an out if he changed his mind (read: they offered him enough money) that also translated into something of a nice bookend for the character if he didn't.

I can't disagree strongly enough. I thought the entire ending of Nemesis (which was already a not so hot movie IMO) was undermined by the backup copy of Data. It just irks me. I'd rather the character stay dead. And it's not that I don't like Data, because I do. It just makes the Nemesis seem that much more pointless to me. I know Trek deaths are a joke, but that's something that I would like to see change.

Agree that to revive Data through B4 would undermine the sacrifice Data made. It was a pretty moronic and stupid scene except for the fact it showed Data willing to 'die' for his friends. Perhaps making the most ultimate human choice in doing so. Conversely, it could be an analytical andriod thing to do by knowing full well his memories are backed up.

But we'll never know. Or should that be we never should. B4 should become own character - what kind of direction he takes don't know.

As for Spiner head transplant etc wouldn't worry, doubt TNG will be onscreen unless something to do with Titan.
