I would die..for you!

Scifi/fantasy/hero movies have several great leaders. You know what I mean; men or women characters that have that intangible ability to make people give their lives for a particular cause; to fight the good fight even when death is almost certain. Doesn't have to be an army, maybe just a few fighter, maybe just one other person, but this character can inspire people with mere words...

Who are among the best characters who had this ability? The ability to inspire devotion to battle with words of inspiration.

Bon Jovi?

Kirk...doing what he always does, turning death into a fighting chance to live...until that Pine wanker took over the role.

Bill "Corn Husker" Adama from GINO and SAD (Stand and Deliver...clearly that Adama woken from cryosleep to inspire urban latinos to learn math).

The alien rebel leader from the episode of Voyager Nemesis. He inspired his troops directly on the battlefield with a loud and angry speech...which promptly alerted the enemy forces to where the rebel troops were hiding...which lead to a firefight.

Great speech, but poor choice of decibel level.

Buffy Summers.

:)

[edit] Forgot it was just movies.

I stick by my answer.

:borg:

Then again, a lot of other people here are quoting TV-only characters (where the OP specifically mentioned movies only) and not getting told off.

I'm so confused.

To be fair, the OP didn't seem to mind it when John Sheridan was mentioned, even approved of the choice

Zapp Brannigan - see his victory over the Auctlian Kill-Bots.

(Yes, I am cheating and counting the four direct-to-DVD Futurama movies as actual films)

Buffy Summers.

WTF?!?!?!!! Did you see any of Season 7? The whole theme that year seemed to be, "Buffy is a bitchy, self-righteous, incompetant leader."

Now, maybe I would throw my lot in with Angel, but after what he did to Lindsey in "Not Fade Away," I'm not so sure.

Of the various Star Trek leaders, I have varying answers. I greatly respect the ideals that James T. Kirk stands for but way too many redshirts died under his command. That indicates to me that he's doing something wrong. Now, under Spock's command, I could at least rest assured that, if I died, it would be for a logical reason. I'd also be fairly comfortable serving under Jean-Luc Picard, William Riker, or Kira Nerys.

I'd obey William Adama for the simple reason that I'm afraid he'd beat me to death with a flashlight if I didn't.

Also, I would die for the entire cast of Hex because Garbage told me to.
