Did you miss me? Or did anyone even notice I was gone or knows who I am lol
What an intense couple of months June and July. I had to up and move, with little notice. Refer to this thread for details about that.
Well, now the moving is all over, and boy does it suck. I have spent these last couple of weeks getting things in order, I am now mostly unpacked and my office is running at full capacity now.
I went from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 2 bedroom townhome (2 story). This place (while not new) is certainly an upgrade from the crap hole I was in previously. In my last apartment (which was intended just to be a temp place for me to live anyway until I found a better one up here in Boone) was mainly for college students, they come in, live a year or two and move out. Therefore, it was a crap hole to the extreme, the management did not take care of it well and it was really really cheap.
Now, this new place I am in (same city) is much better, the management cares about it and maintenance is done regularly. The people who lived here before me lived here for 10 years, so they must have liked it, heh. The management company put in all new carpet in the entire place, and new vinyl in the kitchen and both bathrooms, so all new flooring definitely makes it feel better. They also painted all the walls, so it does feel pretty clean with new floors and paint. There is some ugly wallpaper in the kitchen though that they said they will come in and remove and paint. There is also some ugly wallpaper in the bathrooms I am trying to convince them to tear down. Other than that, the appliances are a bit dated (but not as old as my last place) but there is a brand new full size washer and dryer included.
The rent is of course higher (820 a month vs. 625 a month at the previous place), but the added room I have, plus being two stories, and the layout, and the very very nice area it is in, away from the college, makes it a very nice place for me. I am extremely lucky and blessed to have found this place in short notice (RE 1 week) and have it be available at the time I needed it. I plan to stay here a while, cause my next move will either be into a brand new townhome if I can find one, or an actual house.
One thing I have done, finally, after moving in here, is upgraded my Cable TV connection. I finally got Charter's (our cable provider here) DVR with Digital Home/Digital View and Digital View Plus and HD channels. All I need now is an HDTV, that'll be my next big purchase
Here are some pics of my new place I took a few days ago if anyone cares, I'll post finished shots after I get things all decorated and totally put away, you can click on the images for a larger size:

Anyway, I am back now, and ready to dive into great conversations here at the TrekBBS, which I have missed for the last couple of months! The fall will be here soon, and there will be new TV shows to discuss
