I became terrible excited when I first saw these photos of Michelle Yeoh wearing a gold turtleneck.... but then I realized that that she wasn't in costume.

My inital reactions were three:
1. They're copping those delightful waiter outfits from "Insurrection", which were not exactly well-received at the time either... but at least INS had gold piping to help soften the blow. I think that's what's missing. Nicer shoulder pads, though. (Seriously, I like shoulder pads. They add a nice sense of linear angle, but it's one of the few sartorial decorations from the 1980s that stayed for good artistic reason and style. Unlike bellbottoms and tie-die.)
2. Trite or not, I like the framing of the halo around her head

3. TNG did the same thing by having the cameraman on the opposite side of the plastic partition in order to capture the warp engine's blue light for numerous Geordi-in-Engineering scenes. It was a bit busy but nowhere near as screen-upchuck with that amount of numbers and graphing present. Par for the course, there's a reason TV has been given the moniker of "ADHDTV" for nearly a couple decades now...
