What I loved about District 9 was just how gross and inhuman they made the Prawns, and yet somehow they remained sympathetic. It would be nice to have a Devil in the Dark reference at some point, if not an actual Horta then maybe some other monstrous (looking) creature. The Enterprise gets a distress signal from an alien planet, Kirk and Spock beam down only to get attacked by this massive, scaly, six eyed, snaggle toothed, monster three times Kirk's size. Just as Kirk gets the upper hand and is about to perform a coup de grace with a recovered phaser, Spock informs him this was the thing that sent the distress call. The rest of the movie would involve this creature (or its people) assisting the crew in dealing with the real threat which turn out to be...
