I voted! Who else voted today?

But hey, i really doubt that Boxer is gonna lose. She's pretty popular among us Dems. I do wish though that Feinstein ran for governor. Oh well.

Here's my choices. Italics mean that my candidate/choice did not win. Asterisks mean they were the only candidate (and this is just the Primary):

Governor – Jerry Brown
Lieutenant Governor – Janice Hahn
Secretary of State – Debra Bowen*
Controller – John Chiang*
Treasurer – Bill Lockyer*
Attorney General – Kamala Harris
Insurance Commissioner – Dave Jones
Superintendant of Public Instruction – Gloria Romero
U.S. Senate – Barbara Boxer
U.S. Representative (District 7) – George Miller
Board of Equalization (District 1) – Betty Yee
Proposition 13 – Yes
Proposition 14 – No
Proposition 15 – Yes
Proposition 16 – No
Proposition 17 – No
State Assembly (District 11) – Susan Bonilla*
Democratic Central Committee of Contra Costa County (could have voted for 5) Richard Verrilli
Contra Costa County Superintendent of Schools – Joseph Ovick*
Contra Costa County Assessor – Bob Brooks
Contra Costa County Auditor-Controller – Robert Campbell*
Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder – Stephen Weir*
Contra Costa County District Attorney – Elle Falahat
Contra Costa Sheriff-Coroner – Brian Kalinowski
Contra Costa County Treasurer-Tax Collector – Karen Thibodeau
West Contra Costa Unified School District Bond Measure D – No

Out of 26 selections, I lost on 9 of them, giving me a 64%

I'm holding out hope that Prop 14 will fail, but it appears highly unlikely.

It looks like Prop 14 passed. Story here. :sigh:

As a nonpartisan, I like that I'll have more options in the primaries, but I lean libertarian, so I'll have fewer palatable options in the general election.

That open primary thing is total bullshit, IMHO.

I think it's a terrible idea.

Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein are two prime examples of why term limits are needed. Anyone who tries to tell me they aren't in cahoots with special interest must be three brain cells shy of the intelligence of an apple.

Politics should not be a career.

Yes, they've been in the Senate since 92 for Dianne, and 93 for Barbara. There are so many other senators that have been there longer, like John McCain.

Yup, I voted.

National elections over here :)

Can't wait for the next weeks of trying to form a coalition... should be fun:rolleyes:

What's your point about bringing up John McCain? He's been there a long time, therefore so should they?

No. All three of them have been in for too long and should be thrown out of office. Period. I am snickering that McCain is being seriously challenged and hope he loses.

What?

Do you live in California?

We don't need any goddamned term limits. Both Boxer and Feinstein keep getting re-elected because we like them. I don't need arbitrary government limits to tell me who to vote for (or not vote for).

I think term limits are the refuge of the lazy and the ignorant.

But yet people always state it's great for the office of the President to be term limited. Yeah, makes perfect sense

I object to term limits of all kinds, although I understand the historical context in which presidential term limits came about.

I would rather see an educated populace, informed and engaged in the process, determine the outcome of an election.

Dreaming, I know...

I couldn't agree more.

What we'll see is those candidates who have the most money come out on top. More so than we do already.

I'm opposed to term limits. I think it's part of the reason why the California State Legislature is so screwed up. "Since we've only got 6 or so years here, let me get mine."
