I voted! Who else voted today?

how many election do you guys have in the states for Christ sake?

i don't vote. either way some lying, power hungry, jerk steals the money of the people. who it is doesn't matter. same shit every time.

Well, there's the primary election (for the parties, at the very least). If a candidate doesn't meet whatever minimum threshold the state/wherever places, a runoff is held. There's usually no election after the runoff until the general election.

I did my duty today...

Hope that the campaign gets a LOT less negative...The Republican ads between the 2 front runners for Governor almost made me lose my faith in humanity...

with over 100K ads between the 2 of em....

I'm voting Democratic for governor...

and against Carly (former HP CEO that cost me a nice job with a decent paycheck)...

^If you don't mind my asking, which Democrat did you vote for? :)

And Meg Whitman spending $81 million (more than any candidate has spent in the primary and general combined) is just obscene.

Don't forget, we've got 50 States, and each has their own election.

In CA, we have primaries, where the Democrat candidates face off against each other and the Republican candidates face off against each other. The winner of each, plus and Independent candidates all face off in the general election in the fall.

This is also the main time for propositions, which are big in CA because our State Legislature is too busy taking money from lobbyists to actually do their job. And actually passing laws is hard because the public was conned into...uh...voted to make certain issues much harder to pass.

And many local positions (city/county councils, judges, sheriffs, etc) and State positions (assessor, etc) are also either elected or subject to the same run off as described above.

Meg Whitman's the woman who invented / helped invent e-bay isn't she?

I thought I've heard that she had quite a few problems there, some of her own making. And no, no links or sources. Just stuff on the general news.

I'm surprised at all the Republicans clamoring for the Tea Party endorsements. They do know that the general election has non-Republicans voting, right?

I guess I should have mentioned I'm a Democrat in a Red district. It's a nightmare here.

I cannot believe the best Democrat we could cough up is Jerry Brown. Jerry FUCKING Brown!

:scream:

If Dianne Feinstein had agreed to run, we wouldn't even need to bother with the general election.

Jerry Brown?

Jesus. He was Governor when I was kid. I'm surprised he's still alive, let alone running for office again.

I like Jerry Brown.

I was a bit surprised (and disappointed) with the initial returns I saw. Please, dear God in heaven, do not let the Jungle Primary option win.

I voted today, too. I was really hoping the open primary one would fail. I'm not opposed to open primaries in theory, but this particular one is terrible. It's going to effectively eliminate third parties in California.

Not only that, but it'll pretty much ensure that whoever wins will be the richest candidates.

*sigh*

I also hoped this local bond measure wouldn't have passed, because I don't trust either the school district nor its bond oversight committee.
