I used to be excited for Big Hero 6...

My son and I enjoyed it but I think my 5 yr old granddaughter wouldn't have understood what was going on and the villain might have scared her.

^Yeah, I think the villain would scare the CRAP out of the 5/6 year old crowd. Older kids will love the "super gang" and of course, Baymax.

I loved it. I didn't have much expectation as my daughter was the one who wanted to go but I really loved it.

Baymax was great, much better than the dragon creature in the book.

I really didn't go into it thinking it would be Avengers lite, but it really reminded me of that movie and I liked it for all the same reasons I liked that one.

The part where Baymax was learning to fly really reminded me of the first Iron Man movie when he was just starting to fly.

The teleportation portal reminded me both of the Tessaract portal in Avengers and the Doom 3 PC game. I was expecting to see demons.

Stan Lee is Fred's dad, how cool was that!

I'm still not sure how that's in anyway whitewashing or racist-oriented. Since when is nationality the culprit for that sort of thing? What if he were from China, Zimbabwe, or Mexico instead?

Biracial people don't like being accused of being diluted and the idea that the character is somehow less because of it is just wrongheaded. It's good to see biracial characters.

I like how they pagoda-ized the Golden Gate bridge

Just saw this today, Boxing day movie ftw. Really enjoyed it, great visuals, story kept me entertained, Alan Tudyk, loved all the drawings in the end credits.

Oh and to whoever said Firefly never had Chinese people, no they did. Plenty of Chinese looking folk in the crowds. It would have been nice if they'd gone for a Chinese character considering the way they made use of Chinese food and language, but who knows maybe that was going to happen in season 2.

Extras don't really count. There have always been ethnic minorities in background or subordinate roles in Western cinema. The problem is when they don't get to be the heroes themselves.

Regarding the movie itself...i had no exposure to the comic, so this was fresh for me. Perfect movie for a dad with 9 & 3 year old girls.

I'm ALSO half-Asian, 1/2 white, so i don't have a problem with the lead ;).

i think it's a great 1st movie, and hope to see more in the future..maybe "fixing" some of the "problems" others saw.
