I tired of "Heros" having character, wanting to live normal lives!

Damn. It's gotten that bad, huh?

Oh it's gotten pretty bad.

I mean, we are now at a point where the "Clairebear lesbian kiss/relationship" card is being played for next season

My bet is on someone with special powers causing it.

Either way, I think I'll enjoy it

I have my doubts if I'll enjoy everything else. Though, to be honest, I'm not even sure yet if I will bother watching next season.

Because realistically people would be so terrified/envious/suspicious of superpowered people that any attempt on the part of the superheroes to be altruistic would be met by hostility, resentment and probably violence.

Um yeah...hence, capes, tights and masks...

That means they're in hiding. Why not just hide? Why stick your neck out for a bunch of ingrateful bastards? Peter would do it, but then he's a sucker. Hiro would do it sloppily, get found out and lynched. The rest would try it for a while and give up in disgust. Very few people would continue to try to save the world while the world is busy kicking them in the teeth. Most would find a way to make $$$ off their powers.

Not that there wouldn't be a story there, putting the various character types into this situation and seeing what happens. I just find the capes and tights routine so silly that I'd rather they skip that part and keep the rest.

Here's the new promo.

OooOOoooOoohhhh I am SUCH a sucker. I want to see this! :rommie: I don't care if the writing is more atrocious BS!!! I don't care if it's a low-rent ripoff of Carnivale! Robert Knepper is going to single-handedly save this show. Matt Jr. is cuuuuutttee (and an amazingly good actor for a baby, look at that expression of total fear!) I'm even willing to suffer thru Claire's LUG nonsense. These characters are still too much fun for anything to spoil.

So, sorry for once I cannot fully participate in the bitterness fiesta with my usual total abandon. I'll just bash SG:U extra hard as compensation. The cosmic balance must be maintained! :p

My bet is on someone with special powers causing it.
There's a super with the power to make people gay? There's a fanfic story if ever I heard one...

You know, you may be right.
Good ol' T-Bag is the major reason I'm even considering tuning in :shifty:

And he ditched the southern drawl. I kinda miss it, but I know they can't make him Super T-Bag. ;)

Watching that promo, I got the feeling that "they should have started with Samuel." A character like him, in the first season, would be the organizing principle this show has lacked (and has caused a lot of the trouble).

The rest of the characters really just are trying to live normal lives or at most, integrate their powers into what they want to do anyway (Peter uses strength in paramedic rescues, Matt reads criminal suspects' minds). Everyone is trying to keep things low-key but Samuel comes along and screws it all up.

Occasionally people have expressed a wish for Sylar to become a Magneto character. I don't think that's plausible for him, but they've been right that this show needed its Magneto and hopefully now we've got him.

Oh btw, Knepper's a regular. Interesting change of plans - did Kring look at some footage and realize he had struck gold yet again in an actor?
Knepper's character Samuel is at the center of the major new story line on the sci-fi series. He is the charismatic but evil Earth-moving ringleader of a traveling carnival who recruits people with special powers for a mysterious purpose.

Some kind of mind control type thing. I'm already expecting the Claire plot to suck, but they're probably just doing it to keep the people with crushes on her watching the show. Maybe some angsty identity crisis parts about 2/3 of the way in where she joins the circus, who knows.

Magneto is what way? As a leader of fellow mutants, definitely not. But I still see Sylar as someone who is evil, but acts in a self-interested manor, so he can occasionally team up for good, which Magneto has done before as well. Either way, the show itself has to end with Sylar being defeated, there's no other way around it (and they have to create other compelling characters to get defeated so Sylar can continue a bit longer without it getting stale).
