I think we just need to accept the fact that this is a full reboot.

I don't care if something is a reboot, that fixation to accuse reboots reminds of the elitism of teenagers that want to be contrarian for the sake of it and feel special. What I do care about is if it's interesting. In my opinion the show did the mistake to create very irritable characters and move away from the utopic feeling of TNG-esque trek which is not perfect in itself but due to the fact 99% of TV nowadays is filled with characters that are jackasses, I expected a breath of fresh air from Trek.

In any case, reboot or not, dark or not, It's still already kinda fun and I hope it improves.

We've got Rogue One on the telly right now and it got me to think, how much of the reboot nonsense arises from the visual continuity stuff like star wars, and it its ability to build a consistent single narrative?

Maybe its time to special edition the whole of TOS, and TNG etc, to match current TV expectations, and all of this will go away.

It still doesn't change the fact that over fifty years society had changed quite a bit. Some things done on TOS are simply unacceptable now, but they did happen in the "Prime" universe.

Well maybe its time to revisit the five year mission with a new cast for a modern audience. Maybe introduce that cast during the run of Discovery.

Still not a reboot.

I'll endorse that if and only if I get to be McCoy. I'm in my forties, increasingly cynical and love bitching about shit while relaxing and making fun of the people I call my friends. I am McCoy.

That would be a reboot. People are wildly reaching to hang onto this Prime universe fantasy.

No, it's not. TOS was made at a time when computers weighed tons and took up whole floors. It would be impossible to design what would be OK by today's standards. Just live with it.

Because this gets repeated every day, 10x a day, and it's a simple solution - it's never going to happen. Ever. Never. People just have to accept the fact that TOS was made in the 60s.

If it bothers you that badly that people think differently than you, then perhaps you'd be happier having a blog and not coming to a place like this?
