I think my girlfriend is a Christian! Advice needed.

And...as everyone knows...stalking behavior and being pushy with your personal beliefs is the truest way to a woman's heart. How any lady can turn down a pushy, horny atheist with a determination to recruit her into his harem of nonbelievers I'll never know. I guess some women are just too narrow minded.;)

As I posted to Facebook a couple weeks back:

Sometimes persistence pays off, other times it gets you a restraining order. You just gotta roll the dice.

Of course it's still going on. MadBaggins keeps trying to get in the girl's panties.

I bet they're granny panties under a chastity belt the key for which her dad keeps on a chain around his neck.

I keep rolling the dice and getting a 1. :(

Sounds like you just got a spoiler for the next chapter in:

THE MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD OF MADBAGGINS!

Will he finally score? Will her religious beliefs resurface and cause friction? What will her family think about it all? And just what IS in MadBaggins' "magic bag"?

Tune in next week...same Baggins time...same Baggins channel!

^Or alternatively:

Shock twist: He attends one of the church services with her family, and decides it was so convincing that he becomes a born again Christian, but OH NOEZ, he's already converted her to an agnostic with no effort whatsoever, and he can't convince her to turn back!

This will actually happen, won't it?

Great, another bloody MadBaggins/Star Wars crossover...

The Fail Side of Atheism is strong with that one. What he didn't learn was that puppy love leads to rejection...rejection leads to stalking...stalking leads to restraining orders...restraining orders lead to suffering.

Wow... this thread is still going on? If nothing else, MB is helping lengthen the short attention span of so many of the web-serving generation.
This is nothing new.... MadBaggins' adventures have regularly resulted in 1000+ post threads. Admittedly, this season has taken a while to get anywhere, but I have full faith that this one is just a slow burner and we should be seeing some excitement here real soon.

Wait until Sweeps Week in the BBS. He'll pull out all the stops. There might even be a celebrity cameo.

Or Thames. There might even be a gratuitous nude scene for everyone to enjoy.

I stand corrected. Not only will it be very important, but the description will be badly mangled and use several misspelled words. And it will end with the phrase "mark my words...I won't let this get away from me."

ARGH. A few hours ago my whole world was potentially shattered like an egg. It happened so fast, with so few words. How quickly fate can chnage. Things were going so well. We'd been hanging out again today. We've hung out a whole lot of days. We were talking about the future. This was exciting. I was imagining our future together. Then she says it.

"Oh, I've been thinking of doing charity work in (some country, sounded asian) with the church. I'd be gone for three months, maybe six if it goes well, don't know." Then she just smiled LIKE IT WAS NOTHING.

WTF.

First of all, I'd totally discounted her doing aids work as a possibility already. The reason she'd been acting strange was because of her sick disabled brother, NOT because she was going away. So it came as a complete shock to my system and I felt myself shaking with emotions. Second of all, why not tell me sooner? We've been getting close for a while now, ever since that great day when we went out after college and I woke up at the sink. Why string me along for this long if she was intending to go away? We were JUST starting to getting closer (emotionally AND physically) and now this. Thirdly, I thought I'd almost talked her into atheism, so why do charity work with a church? That would conflict with her new life choice, surely. Why not do some nice secular charity work in a local area like my friend Jazz does (okay, it's court ordered community service in her case, but the point stands)?

Well, I made an excuse and left after hearing this and came right here to ask for advice. I don't know how to handle this one. I'm so angry with her. Maybe I shouldn't be, but maybe SHE should have been honest. How can I talk her out of it?

It's doubly frustrating because I've even made progress with her dad lately. Recently when I was at her house he came over and shook my hand. It was a nice gesture and he had a really strong handshake. I almost thought he was trying to intimidate me with it, but I think I was just being paranoid.
