I think my girlfriend is a Christian! Advice needed.

That serves me right. I initially went from the first page to the last page. I missed the whole courtship!

I's got some readin' to do...

Only on page 15, but....

Sleeping with autistic cousins? Doing the kissing? MB??!!!!!

BARKY!!!!! You've come back to me!!!!!!! :D ;)

^You've missed some real excitement. Sadly, it has sounded like the first 2 or 3 chapters of the MB saga have been lost to time. But trust me when I say..... MB knows how to have a good time. And nothing- not age, not lineage, not gender, not mental issues- will keep him from screwing who ever he wants to.

Pardon, but this was posted on facebook a few minutes ago.

SO I decided to go to the church after all.
It was never in doubt.

I did feel some conflict before I went.
Because your character is a deeply written as Little Red Riding Hood.

Not because my ex might be there, she doesn't own the church.
Since you've already (somewhat proudly) proclaimed that you don't even know what time of day people go to church, how can you be so sure she does not own it?

I've probably done nearly as much hard work there as she did
Yes. 20 years of strict attendance = a couple of hours of moving cans.

(to be honest she goofed off while we were sorting out the food quite often.)
Things only happen if you witness them. Object permanence is something that infants learn. Are you a baby?

No, I felt conflict because I'm not a Christian and in fact I think they should be stopped (using logic)
Not your strong suit...

and would I be a hypogrite
What is...some sort of super-sandpaper?

if I went to church?
No, that wouldn't make you a super-sandpaper.

I decided I wouldn't be,
We've all long since come to the conclusion that you're not the best judge of...well...anything. I think it's irresponsible for society to let you continue to be responsible for your own actions.

because what I care about even more than atheism is helping other people.
I really don't know anyone who cares a whole heap about atheism. One can care a lot about the "truth" but no one refers to it as caring a lot about "atheism". You're strictly and vehemently adhering to a belief about something and wish to spread the message around to others. The Pope would be proud.

I mean, the only reason I want to make people like my ex see the truth is because I care about helping them. I've done a lot of charity work before. It's something I feel very strongly about. So I did not feel bad at all when I went to the church.
Getting bored.

One of the women who works there greeted me warmly and showed me a pile of stuff to sort. I looked around and couldn't see my ex anywhere. I was glad, I could now work without being distracted.
We all know the first thing you did was look for your "ex". But since you only held hands for a grand total of 45 minutes 3 weeks ago...stop calling her your "ex". You sound 12. Of course, we all know you'll keep calling her this because I'm pretty sure that you're not totally aware that you can read replies in here.

People came and went as I worked. There really was quite a lot of sorting to do.
Sort, sort, sort!

I noticed the woman who had greeted me there and struck up a conversation with her. No I wasn't trying to hit on her, she's forty.
Hasn't stopped you before.

I asked if there was anything else I could help with. She said not right now but she appreciated what I was doing and it was a HUGE HELP as she and the others were really big organizing something major with another charity. I asked what and she said some people from the church would be going overseas to do aids work in some pacifici (I think) places. She said a I probably knew some of the volunteers. Then she got called away. I had finished sorting anyway so I left without a word.
You know there isn't a length requirement on posts, don't you? We don't need all the background. Just get to the good shit. BRING ON THE CRAZY!

Well, that explains a lot! That's why my ex has been acting strange lately and hasn't been in college much.

School.

She's going overseas to do charity stuff! I never would have predicted that.
It's called "mission work".

She's just throwing her education away.
No. See, if one misses several weeks of 8th grade then one can theoretically "throw her education away". If one misses several weeks of college then you just retake the class. In a lot of big boy schools, attendence isn't mandatory.

Yes it's important to help people. But going all the way to a foreign country in the pacific like Indoensia
Spelled wrong, but we'll go with it...

or Madripoor
Hadn't heard of that one before. What does the googles say?[/QUOTE]

The Principality of Madripoor is a fictional island located in Southeast Asia in the Marvel Comics universe. Based on illustrations, it is in the southern portion of ...

I...I just don't know if I can do this anymore. We're getting dangerously close to me giving up and declaring this thread open for thread bombs starting with someone humping everything:
dating-fails-do-it-in-the-road.gif

Fitting.

or North Korea!?
Well, you picked an actual place...which is good. However this also shows how woefully ignorant you are of current geopolitical tensions. Beggars can't be choosers though.

Those place can be very dangerous, especially for an attractive young woman.
Unlike the US, where an attractive woman has nothing to fear.

Why does she have to go? Can't locals handle it all?
No...they can't. That's the whole point.

It seems like a huge waste flying someone millions of miles away just to do charity work.
A huge waste of what, spank-bank material?

Plus I'll miss her if she goes.
I'm glad you're not being selfish about all this. It would be extremely ironic if you would be, given the location of this internal monologue.

I want to speak to her about this.
CALL HER AT ONCE!

I know things ended badly between us, but I also know I'd be able to talk some sense into her.
Pouring over the historical archives, I'm pretty sure that entire relationship consisted solely of a horrendously comedic ending. There was no beginning nor middle to speak of, just a santorum of a conclusion.

I texted her but she didn't reply.
Considering how her last words (and instructions) to you were to never call again, I don't think she'd ever reply. Then again, I would've thought you would have killed yourself by now so I guess we could all stand to learn something here.

I want to call her again but she'd probably throw her own phone against a wall when she heard my voice.
It'd be funnier if she'd throw someone else's phone against the wall. Maybe next week.

Maybe I should just go to her home?
YES

It's the only way to be sure she'd she me.
Crawl in through her window.

Maybe I should just forget her and let her make her own mistakes.
No....

But like I said, I care about people a lot.
Awfully menacing there. Did anyone else get chills?

MB cares about people. The kind of caring that involves high-powered binoculars and hiding in bushes.

Nothing quite summarizes these threads quite like this picture. When Squiggy grasps his sinuses in torment, he dies so for us all.

Oh, and Madripoor is where Wolverine lived when he disguised himself from the world by wearing an eye patch and telling people his name was "Patch." A fitting metaphor. So fitting it's almost beautiful.

Not if you actually care about helping downtrodden people it isn't. Charity can be performed anywhere. It doesn't necessarily have to be pursued in your own country. And what's this "millions of miles" crap? What, is she doing charity work for the underground cavern dwellers on Mars or Ganymede? Can't say I'd blame her. It'd be all that much more distance between herself and people like you. At least in their hyperadvanced subterranean societies they know nothing of stalking females with a pronounced religious bent.

A lot of the time it IS a waste. There is a whole missions industry out there run by christian organizations. You fly some young person to a third world country so they can volunteer to help out doing non-professional work. Why not use the air fare and administration money needed for this to pay local people to do the same work? That way the work gets done and someone who needs the money gets paid. Youth groups are particularly big on this. It's not mission work, it's a working holiday. Just got some flyer the other day, help raise 2000.00 so a couple youth group people can go to Thailand and do "mission work" for 2 weeks at an orphanage.

I'll donate money so a doctor can go somewhere and do work but not so some 19 year old can wash dishes and think she's helping the poor.

Fair points I suppose. In the end it's up to what the individual volunteering wants to do and where they'd like to go. Charity in the final analysis is the desire to help more than anything else. How you go about it is up to the person. As long as actual poor, sick, diseased or war-torn people are being helped is all that matters, even in instances where the agency or group of people tackles it in the most roundabout way. Direct or indirect, charities perform a great service. For the most part. You're going to find at least one rotten apple in every barrel. And like you said, some spoiled kids wash some dishes and think they're changing the world. That treads awfully close to being a non-charitable waste of time.

I think the rebranding of working holidays as "mission work" is all about making the first world kid feel good and making the people donating the money feel good. Since there are many very great needs in this world I'm angered by such a waste of financial resources under the guise of charity. If you're going to call it charity then you're accountable for misusing the finances available to you.

The plane fare alone would be more than people earn in a year in some places.

Go ahead. I am proud of my indignation. You can even claim it as your own writing if you wish.
