    Thought I'd share.

So I decided to try and take some more weight off this summer, and was achieving impressive results. Got down to about 215. After a couple of weeks of weaning off, I noticed I was still losing weight. At 210, my face was starting to look a little too thin and sickly. I even decided to step things up, increasing my intake and eat well. I was worried I might be deathly ill with cancer or something.

After a couple of weekends of serious barbecues, 30 ounce ribeyes and wheaty beer, the scale started moving the other way.

I thought to myself "Yes, I gained weight". Then I realized how strange that sounded.

I've always had trouble keeping my weight up to where it should be, so I can sympathize. Congrats on the gain!

I need to do the same, but no matter how many pints of whole milk and plates of pasta I have every day, my weight doesn't change. My BMI is somewhere between 17-18

^ I'm the same. Of course a 17.5 BMI is still only a little underweight. There's nothing wrong with being thin as long as it's a healthy thin.

I was...to say the least...very underweight. I weighed between 100-105 for the longest time (and roughly 5'7 ish)...I finally got up to 120 :D

When I joined the Army a few years back I was suprised to learn I was only about 8 lbs from being considered underweight. looking back, I was extremely tall and thin.

Now I'm more balanced. That said however, I can't eat as much as I used to. I can still eat a lot, but when I overindulge it haunts me.

The best way to gain weight is to go on a diet. I was 137 from about age 20 through 35. Then my Doctor told me to go on a diet to control my cholesterol; I immediately eased up to nearly 180. Now I'm around 165. I don't know if I'll ever see 137 again. [IMG]

At one point after dieting, and then stopping, I kept losing weight too and mildly worried the same thing. The body just seems to have "plateaus" of weight where one's weight seems stable and in between plateaus one seems to gain or lose weight rapidly until the next plateau is reached. I ended up at a plateau I'm happy with, though wouldn't mind rearranging where some of the fat is to fill out certain areas and tone up others. But fuck it, I'm not going to have lipo to do that, so I'm settling.

Congratulations on the weight gain! ;)

    Thank you.

I concur. This happened once before, as you describe. But That was like six years ago and I was running. This time I'm older and I can no longer run so I felt like it would have been more difficult, yet it went on even longer and it's the lightest I've been in over six years. My friends and family kept commenting. This is about as far as I let it go

You look "sickly thin" at 210 pounds? Do you play in the NBA?

Weight gain/loss has a definite lag. If I put myself through an especially tough period in the gym its sometimes weeks later before I see the weight come down. In reverse, last weekend I stuffed my face at cheesecake factory but not seen any gain yet - but I know next week the scale will read higher.

No idea if this is normal or not (for the record 6ft tall, 170lbs).

Fuck,as a guy who always considered myself in shape,my doctor told me just this week that I was in the "orange zone",a few steps away from being overweight.Coupled with that my cholesterol level was much too high..double fuck!

    Beginning to feel middle-aged:(.

I'm 6' even. My lean body weight is approximately 175 pounds.

My eye sockets were becoming quite visible!
