Hopefully any shelter it was taken to has a no-kill policy, or are they all no-kill shelters in the US now?

They are most certainly not all no-kill. The vast, vast majority are kill-shelters, even most SPCA shelters. Many states only have a tiny handful of no-kill shelters.

If the section for Canada is any indication, that list is incomplete. My local SPCA is no-kill but it's not listed.
