I refuse to watch Trek remastered

I refuse. I really don't see why people would want to even watch this. Just wait, they'll probabally release this on DVD to try and scam more money from us.

I honestly don't see it that way. I'm not trying to stir up trouble either; the way I look at it you can always have better special effects. Does that mean that 10 years from now they should redo the FX again? I'd prefer watching Star Trek as presented to the original audience.

Of course I do have the DVDs, so I don't really have to watch the show on TV anyways...

I think it's a lot like colorizing old movies. On the one hand, many feels it destroys the integrity of what the film makers created, when they produced their movie, in terms of the esthetic.
On the other hand, there are many people who will not watch a black and white movie, so colorizing will expose these people to films that they would not otherwise give a chance.

I'll bet in ten or fifteen years time, when HD TV has spoilt you, you'll eventually find less and less reasons to pull out your old TOS DVDs, and you'll find yourself watching anything else, so long as it's in HD.

What are you going to do if they ever invent the holodeck for real? Refuse to play in episodes of TOS because they aren't how you remembered them?

Perhaps I should buy TOS on laserdisc. :p

No problem. Don't watch. But don't expect me not to watch because you have a problem.

In fact, I'm watching every week and (for the most part) am lovin' it!

I do expect them to do DVDs. Hardly a "scam," it will be a product that offers real value to me, and I expect to pay real money for it. In fact, since the DVDs will be uncut, they should offer value even above the syndicated versions that are being broadcast now.

I guess I see it as a scam of sorts when I already have the regular DVDs. They are, after all, in a business. Perhaps if it makes some new fans, then maybe this whole business is worth it. But don't expect me to like it. ;)

Fair enough. I like the remastered episodes, so it's worth it to me.

^ I'm sure you're breaking their hearts.

I fail to see it as a scam considering that Paramount is not behind this, rather CBS/Paramount (a new and separate company) has decided to do the remastering; different management. Further, you now have exactly what you want, TOS the way it was in the sixties. You will not be so-called "scammed" because you will not be purchasing remastered DVDs.

Some people obviously would prefer that Star Trek Remastered not exist. It's perfectly okay that those people choose not to watch.

But me, I love it, and am damned glad that those aforementioned individuals don't get to choose whether or not the Remastered episodes exist.

I don't watch TOS remastered, mainly because I almost never watch TV these days. Having said that I'll almost certainly buy them on DVD, based on the clips that I've seen.

To me the definitive version of the original series will be the original versions. The new stuff is a proverbial romp in the hay.

Very logical to me. :vulcan:

You're not missing much, Surak. The SFX are on occasion a marginal improvement and other times look cartoonish and stylistically inconsistent with the rest of the show. Worse, cuts to live action scenes sometimes butcher classic moments. I will say the show looks good in HD.
