I really like Voyager

While Tuvok wasn't focused on enough, Tim Russ played the hell out of the character. I really enjoyed eps. like "Riddles" & "Meld" when Russ was allowed to break from character. You got to see what great range he had as well as recognizing the disappline he used to play Tuvok. I think one of the most endearing charactistics of Tuvok was his dry wit. I also liked that Tuvok was your typical snobbish Vulcan that looked down upon humans. He actually liked us.

Exactly my opinion too. I always loved that "dry wit" which did show up from time to time. I remember his comment to Neelix, I think it was in the beginning of "Tuvix": "Mr Neelix, do you think you could behave a little less like yourself".

I also agree about the way Tuvok did look at humans. I think he found them a bit primitive when it came to emotions and giving after for them but also very likeable in some way. I also think that he reeally respected both Janeway and Chakotay.

As for Tim Russ, he's brilliant. In my opinion one of Star Trek's best actors.

Seska is one villain you just have to love hating. :)

Agreed. That was a wonderfully written set of episodes, and Martha Hackett did a bang-up job, IMO.

I'm a sucker for intrigue, and as intrigue goes, this arc was a VOY high-point.

Sorry about the DS9 comment. I do need to give that another shot. I appreciate your thoughts here too. ;)

Hey...no biggie. Not every show is for everyone, you know? I just said what I did because I suspected my taste might be somewhat different from yours and I felt I should tell you that in the interests of full disclosure.

Anyway...I agree with you about Tuvok & Tim Russ. He is high on my list of favorite VOY characters/actors too. No doubt about it - Tim Russ is a class act.

And truthfully, you reminded me of another redeeming quality about Neelix, besides the chef thing. I did like the interactions between Tuvok and Neelix very much. Those exchanges provided some great comic relief and were always alot of fun to watch.

Thanks for reminding me of those, guys!

Welcome to the Voyager fan forum then,TheLonelySquire! I was a fan when it started on UPN a long time ago and have been a fan ever since. Today, I received Season 4 of the DVD set in the mail and am now watching Year of Hell Part II. I have forgotten how great this episode was..even though it never really happened in the end, it still was a very exciting episode for me. :) Do you have a favorite character yet?? Or do you like everyone?? Personally, I love the whole cast but if I did choose, it would be Chakotay. He's hotter than a two dollar pistol!!!!! :guffaw:! Anyway, Year of Hell was a good time episode. :) Time travelling eps of Voy really gave me a headache. But this one was really good. And Kurtwood Smith was good in it too..he played Annorax I think, if I'm not mistaken.

I have the Borg Collection and Time Travel Collection so I've seen YOH several times. I really liked it and Kurtwood has been a Trek favorite of mine since he played the Federation Prez in TUC.

Endgame was great and I'm looking forward to getting the seasons on dvd in the near future.

As far as a favorite character I'd have to say Tuvok. Tim Russ does an outstanding job with the character. I think they're all solid and I expect to develop better opinions on each of them as I work my way through the series.

Now, I have a TOS bathroom (very classy!) in my man cave. And while I would never change it out for Voyager, I'm really into this show.

WOW! That's really cool that you have a TOS bathroom. I would never have the guts or the $$ to do something like that to my house.
You're another Endgame fan huh? I did NOT like that episode at all. It ended too quickly with a lot of unanswered questions..and I got mad at the C/7 relationship thing(more of a J/C fan) more than anything. It wasn't HORRIBLE, but it wasn't a great ending to a series that I had loved for a long while either.

I happen to agree about Tuvok. At first I was like a BLACK VULCAN?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!??!!! Then I got to know the character and really liked him..Tim Russ did an excellent job as Tuvok..especially in the episode "Riddles" where Tuvok is involved in an accident and feels like he's no longer a vulcan anymore.

I heard the Borg Collection DVDs are pretty interesting to say the least. I think there's also the Time Travel collection as well. :) Wonder what those are like?

Thanks for the reply. Actually the bathroom really only cost about $600. Picture frames and photos brought on ebay, framed poster from Wrath of Khan, Enterprise commission plaque that cost about $200. I'd love to upload some pics but I've been unable to upload them as a jpeg without hosting them somewhere else.

Lynx, I agree with you 100% and I haven't seen but 10 Voyager eps. Exodus, you're right on too.

My Voyager top five:

1) Warlord
2) Warlord
3) Cold Fire
4) Warlord
5) Any episode starring Seven of Nine.

You really like Warlord don't you. It's also interesting you put down two Kes heavy episodes (Not Before and After, which I thought was Kes at her best) and then you put everything starring Seven of Nine. ;)

I too like Voyager. It's not my favorite series (TNG still remains that) but right now Star Trek really goes in moods. I can watch a lot of Star Trek but which series depends on the mood. Voyager is one of those series where I do come back to (I wonder if I should get Seasons 5-7 of this series at some point) occasionally and I catch some of Spike sometimes. I should post in this forum more, but it's been busy lately. Hopefully Spike gets back to Season 5-7 this summer and then maybe we can have some great late season discussion since I haven't seen those seasons in forever. I actually watch to see episodes like Friendship One (I saw a bit of it last time and it seemed interesting) again since I've only seen it once.

It did't show a resoloution, it didn't even say "you know I'll never learn to live with it and maybe thats the way it's supposed to be" , just a hammy quote on the holodeck and it's never mentioned again?
It was a bad end to a good episode

What do you expect from a reset-button driven series? ;)

Emoticons or not, that's actually a very valid point.

The "no-arcs" was a constraint on this show since the beginning, and would have played a hand in how many of the episodes were resolved.

Voyager did have loose archs.

The development of the EMH is one, Seven's regaining her humaity was another. All the Borg stories lead up the their conclusion in "Endgame", while Tom & Be'Lanna was another arch. All these character have continuing stories that play out thru out the series.

Voyager did have recurring themes and threads, sure.

But even within that framework, a lot of the stories were tied up - never to be mentioned again - by the end of each episode.

Fwiw, I think it worked pretty well. Though it would've been funny to see Harry develop a pathological fear of clowns.

That would be great!

Harry Kim's very own personal "IT".

Season 2 was my favourite season. So many enjoyable epesodes. "Cold Fire", "Meld" and "Deadlock" to name a few. Also just watched "The Thaw". What an interesting episode, had me feeling unnerved the whole way through.

I agree.

A great season where every episode (except for "Threshold") were of high quality.

As for "Threshold" it was actually watchable if considered as some nightmare Janeway had after eating too much of Neelix's food.

In my opinion, the 5 best season 2 episodes were:

1. Cold Fire

2 Persistence Of Vision

3 Basics #1

4. Projections (if counted as a season 2 episode, it was actually filmed as part of season 1)

5. Alliances

If "Projections" is counted as a season 1 episode, then "Tuvix" takes a place among the 5 best.

Loved, loved, loved the climax to Basics, Part 1. At that time I was not part of www, so I had no idea what the hell was going to happen! Miss Seska, thought it was cool when she showed up in Season 7's "Shattered"

"Basics" is actually my favorite two-parter. Not as many kewl explosions, etc. as "Year of Hell" or "Scorpion" but better drama imo.

Thought Scorpion was great, didn't much care for Year of Hell. I look at it as another wasted opportunity to show the dangers of being alone in the delta quadrant. They could have developed a whole season around that one premise. Alas, it was forgotten by the next episode.
