I never heard of this: Shaun Cassidy sings Illia's theme:

Saw this on Facebook:

Speaking of STAR TREK THE MOTION PICTURE on it's 34th Anniv. This is a demo song by Shawn Cassidy he did on his lunch break whilst filming The Hardy Boys. Another version was done by a female studio singer. Neither was released, composer Jerry Goldsmith was totally opposed, but studios being studios they wanted the back end of Casey Kasem saying "At #12 this week...A Star Beyond Time...from Star Trek The Motion Picture"...and of course money coming from plays of that....

Thanks for that---I never heard of it before!

I got it. Went to the TMP screening in Hollywood, too. That was fun. La-La Land always puts on a great show.

How did we not meet then? I was with IndySolo, TV's Frank, Top41 and a bunch of others that night afterward. It was a fantastic event!

Next time there's a La La Land event PM me. I'm back in the LA for at least a little while.

Did anyone get the La-La Land soundtrack album?

Neil

I did. In fact, the first time I remember hearing that song was in 1988 on a sci-fi album of re-recordings. A woman sang it in that case. I don't know who it was.

The re-recording changed a lyric. Cassidy sings, "...we'll conquer the unknown" while the female re-recording says, "...we'll star trek the unknown". I know this song a little too well. :)

Neither have I. I've been a fan for 40 years and never heard of it before.

Not released as a single, perhaps, but it's certainly included on several albums/cassettes. And the Shaun Cassidy 45rpm (the limited demo pressing?) is pictured in several commercial price guides of Trek merchandise.

Now if we can only hear a remixed version of 'The Moon's A Window To Heaven' from Star Trek V featuring Nichelle Nichols's lead vocals...:);):guffaw:

Wow! Ilia's Theme really is obscure! Who knew this existed? To say nothing of Shaun Cassidy, but that's to be expected. He wasn't very talented, now, was he? Maybe he was an actor-turned-singer, or something like that? In any event, perhaps some things belonging in the past - and staying there - isn't such a bad thing, after all.

Lots of us!

You're showing your (young) age. Shaun was TV royalty!
