I Like the Genetically Enhanced Misfits

The ones from "Statistical Probabilities" and "Chrysalis".

I dig them.

They are funny.

And I just watched the scene where they burst into song. Beautiful. I joined in!

It was fun.

Anyone else like them?

The Jack Pack is awesome. And they could never have been on any of the Treks other than DS9. Musical sequences! Dancing! Hyperactivity! Depth of characterization!

And I just read (in my trusty copy of the ol' "DS9 Companion", never pop in a season DVD without it!) that the actress that played Lauren used to sing in all-girl punk band! Awesome!

And the producer who came up with the singing sequence is quoted as saying that it was ones of his happiest moments in Trek!

Sweet!

Looking forward to eventually hearing that song...

(Is it online somewhere?)

I love the Jack Pack. I think they are hilarious.

I would have liked to have seen some follow-up on them, though - particularly Sarina.

I have to admit, Chrysalis is one of my favourite DS9 episodes.

The Jack Pack are just fantastic.

I love them.

However, I feel that Chrysalis is a completely horrible episode - in DS9's top 5 worst - that totally bastardizes those characters by making them all becomes unimportant (and stupid!) losers except for Bashir's "creepy love interest of the week" who suddenly becomes "better" than the rest of them.

Only good scene in Chrysalis is when they fool Nog by kicking him out for asking stupid questions.

The lip-syncing/"singing" in Chrysalis is hands-down one of the most embarrassingly horrible scenes in any Trek show.

Woulda been better to simply not make the Chrysalis episode so that they could all be remembered with dignity instead of ruining 3 of their characters with a completely pointless, boring, foolish episode (Chrysalis). Not to mention wasting one of Season 7's precious final episode slots with an unwatchable episode.

On the other hand, Statistical Probabilities is a masterpiece of an episode, in DS9's top 5 in my view.

I didn't think it was too bad of an episode... not a great episode, but I wouldn't mind watching it.

The thing that stuck out most in my mind is the physical transformation that Sarina went through. When she was "blank" for a lack of a better word, she was was just all around unattractive. However, when Bashir brought her "back to life", I was amazed at how she just became absolutely drop dead gorgeous. I don't know if it was just difference in make up or how the actress did her thing, or a combination of the two, but that's what I really remember about the episode.

Totally unwatchable. Tried thrice to watch it thruogh and wound up switching. Its as bad as the TNG's when they run around on the hot bod planet w/The Boy. At least that one a female eye candy. This one just SUCKS

I love the Jack Pack! What other Trek series would dare show that mental illness is still around in the perfectly evolved Federation society?

I would've liked to have seen them a couple more times. We didn't get enough of them. I didn't care for Chysalis much but I loved that part where the Jack Pack sing. Very entertaining.

Voice of dissent here...

Hate the Jack Pack and "Chrysalis" will always remain on the list of my bottom five episodes. Not only did "Chrysalis" force me to endure the Jack Pack once again, but it made Bashir look like an idiotic jackass. Terrible episode (IMO, of course).

Hilary Shepard Turner (Lauren) is gorgeous. And slutty. I like!
Me too, until I remember that Lauren's IQ was probably 50 points higher than mine. 10? I could handle that. What's it like dating a genectically inhanced genius?

The "Mutants" are really quite cool. I'm glad they were never overused because that could have easily happened, I think.

"That's a stupid question!"
