And get this: the most recent item on his imdb page is "Untitled J.J. Abrams/HBO Project" - can JJ not SEE Kirk right under his nose?!? That's just too implausible. Take a look at him! Abrams has already found Kirk, he's just toying with us.

Just remember: I was predicting Quinto would be Spock before the guy was even hired for Heroes.

It also seems like a genuinely good idea for an HBO series - I'm not assuming it's a front. But it IS interesting that Abrams must be aware of the guy. From his Band of Brothers role, I know he can act, and he has an "earnest hero" vibe, like Quinto has a "freaky outsider" vibe (one of the elements that makes him perfect for Spock).

I think given the right makeup and hair, Eion could work for a 30s Kirk.

But not for a 20s one.

I like his mix of just enough ruggedness + prettiness. Too many of the options being tossed around veer too far on the pretty side.

Im not saying hes old. I'm saying he works great as a 30s kirk. But if theyre going for an out of the academy 20s Kirk, he wouldnt. Depends on what they want.

After a few moments of pondering, I agree. I think Fillion could pull it off, so to speak. Not a bad choice at all.

Hes the right age to go with the role, just a few years left before he takes over the Enterprise, allows him to take on the Captaincy either at the end of this movie (with some makeup to give him a few years) or in the next one. I think I could support this one.
