It was the defining factor in why the show was retooled, into the current running schedule of starting in January, the way that "24" does. They lost a lot of viewers right then, & viewership had been down a bit already from season two not delivering the way that the first had.It might have even played a part in why the show's contract was renegotiated, into the final 3 seasons of a fixed amount of episodes. But make no mistake, when season 3 returned with powerhouse material, the show was immediately back on course, & then that tragic writers strike cut short season 4, which has made it even more difficult for us. The airing of this show has been the most difficult obstacle for all of us. I think they have even moved the time slot at least oncePersonally, Season 3 was a bit of a stinker because of the whole kay, say and jay in a cay thing which went on FOREVER.
Season 4 otoh is one of LOST's best imo, and Season 5 carried on this improvement as their building towards a BIG ending.
Stick with it, because im sure theyre building towards one hell of a payoff in the finale, even though none of us have a clue what it is yet![]()
I know what you mean about the start of season 3. I watched it on DVD and it seemed like a lot...it must have seemed even longer for those watching it on TV week by week! Still, not bad as a storyline, but drawn out too long.
I for one, never lost interest, never missed an episode, & even though it was the lowest lag for the show, didn't even mind the prolonged captivity stuff from the start of season 3, because it was & still remains a rare glimpse into the lives of Ben's community, times which are gone for good
