I just spent 30 hours playing Zelda...

Another thing that turned me off of TP were the horrible graphics. Even by Gamecube standards it looked low Rez with blurry and bland textures. The game actually gave me a headache because my eyes were trying to constantly bring the blurry landscape into focus. I think the cell shaded style in Windwaker looked a lot more impressive.

QFT. Twilight Princess is pushing more polys, more textures, more effects, more everything, yet it doesn't look half as good as Wind Waker. The stylised aesthetic employed in Wind Waker does much to disguise the technical limitations of the game, whereas Twilight Princess very much reflects its age and the age of the hardware for which it was designed. The two games share the same underlying engine, incidentally.

Anyway, both Amazon and Half have used copies of the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess in the $25-30 range. If you liked OoT you'll almost certanly like Twilight Princess.

Thanks, I may have to pick that up.

And, JuanBolio, there's a gameboy version of Zelda?!? What's it called? I'll have to pick up that, too.

When I got the original Zelda for NES, I spent an entire day playing the stupid thing. I had nightmares about Hyrule that night. It was fucking awesome!

:guffaw:

Link's Awakening was the one for the old-school Gameboy, and had a NES-Zelda feel to it.

Think it was the only one of the group to NOT feature Hyrule

Links's Awakening ... that sounds familiar. The gameboy was given to the four-year old by a friend, so ..., I've no idea what kind of gameboy it is, other than a gameboy. ... and it's blue.

they all play all the old games, so you're good there. Blue one was probably the "updated" gameboy (Gb advance, maybe?). think those were the ones that looked like the old gray bricks, but had colored plastic and some had color screens too.

bastard younger generation with their lightweight, color-screened gameboys! My old black and white monster is literally about the size and weight of a brick, and played about as well. Damn we loved that thing, though. The kid that got his first (we were in 3rd grade, as I recall) was very popular at recess for a long time...

Yea? Well, my generations' 'gameboy' consisted of a console tv and a console game system that had one game - pong. But, you could either play a table-tennis type game or, if you were alone or really adventurous, you could play 'breakaway'.

good times ...

Majora's Mask wasn't in Hyrule either

Link's Awakening was frakking awesome! I got that on the Gameboy when it came out in the early 90s, I was about 9 and I played it to death

Hmm, it wasn't? I guess i never got far enough into that one to notice. Aftre OoT, majora's mask was a big letdown for me...

Gameboy -> Gameboy Color -> Gameboy advance -> Gameboy Advanse SP -> Game Boy Micro -> Ninteno DS -> Nintendo DS lite

I am totally stuck in Phantom Hourglass. I can't remember where I'm stuck because it has been about a year since I played it, but I recall not being able to figure out where to go. Then you put a game down, your memory gets rusty---it's a bit like putting a book down half way through and picking it up 5 weeks later: you're just lost.

Anyway, I have to restart it.

That's what I like about Majora's Mask though; that it's not in Hyrule and doesn't follow exactly the same friggin format as nearly every other game.
The Wind Waker started out very interesting too, but for the latter half turned into the typical Zelda fare of- collect the Triforce, go to Hyrule castle, fight Ganon, rescue Zelda etc
Same thing happened with Twilight Princess, but a lot sooner.

I love the originality of the story in MM, and its creepy moments too, like the "gods" things rising out of the oceans to hold the moon up in the sky before it crashes down, etc

All of them are still excellent though, just saying

Dude! I hadn't gotten to that part yet.

wow.

Now, I just need to convince the 4 year old that we need to beat MM before we start a new game of OoT.

The game starts off a bit annoying when you're stuck as a Deku Shrub for a while (kinda like Twilight Princess with the Wolf), but after that I found it most enjoyable, and a lot easier one you learn the song to slow down the passage of time (as you have to keep going back in time to Day 1 before the end of Day 3)

But its the helping out all the townsfolk subplot that makes the game for me

Well I have the Zelda compilation disc for Gamecube (Zelda, Zelda II (NES), Ocarina, Majora's Mask (N64)) I also have Link to the Past (SNES)on Virtual Console. I have Link's Awakening for Gameboy Color and Phantom Hourglass for DS. I also have Windwaker (GC)and Twilight Princess (Wii).

Wow, now that i am typing this out i realize that i have a Zelda game for every Nintendo console except one (Gameboy Advance.) I will have to give both Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess a second chance...
