Another thing that turned me off of TP were the horrible graphics. Even by Gamecube standards it looked low Rez with blurry and bland textures. The game actually gave me a headache because my eyes were trying to constantly bring the blurry landscape into focus. I think the cell shaded style in Windwaker looked a lot more impressive.
QFT. Twilight Princess is pushing more polys, more textures, more effects, more everything, yet it doesn't look half as good as Wind Waker. The stylised aesthetic employed in Wind Waker does much to disguise the technical limitations of the game, whereas Twilight Princess very much reflects its age and the age of the hardware for which it was designed. The two games share the same underlying engine, incidentally.
