I've been here since Nov '08. I kept reading about Capt. Robau and all the interest about this character. So I went to IMDB and checked out who plays him and what not and checked for a character profile. Nothing. I haven't read anything here except how "bad ass" he is and a whole thread littered with Chuck Norris-like observations.

Who is he? And how does everyone know he's "bad ass"? I can't find anything on him.

So. Who is he and why the interest? Thanks.

The joke originated when one of the film's writers made a comment about how all Starfleet captains should be badass, rather than being made lame so Kirk will look better by comparison. According to him, they made sure Robau would be a "badass."

And thus...
 
Thanks. That what I figured when I kept reading all the over-the-top comments about him.

He does look bad-ass though. :lol:
 
Unfortunately, no one can be told how badass Captain Robau is. You have to see it for yourself.

This February 2008 article (which didn't quite get all of the details right, but which announced Tahir's casting for the role then known as 'Federation Captain') has some of it. The "badass" term had been being tossed around the forum in general already, but as soon as everyone saw Tahir's face and the statement that he wasn't going to be just another one of those chump Starfleet captains, the soon-to-be-named Captain Robau pretty much owned "badass" from there on.
 
I wonder if we'll see some kind of fight sequence with Robau, against Nero or Nero's crew or something. There has to be a true, on-screen reason for his badassnessocity.

Kirk's gotta have a role model for the flying kicks and double fists, right?

He's so badass that he has a tattoo of a badass on top of a tattoo of another badass on his actual badass and the ink is made from the blood of pureed Klingons.

He also likes puppies...

AS A SNACK BEFORE BATTLE!!!
 
There is also something undeniably cool about saying "Badass Captain Robau" that one often goes looking for reasons to say it.
 
he's so badass he had all the toilet's on the kelvin removed to make him even more of a badass!;)
