I have no friends :(

Friends?...

I found out just who my friends were after my divorce from my first wife...(they turned out to be HER friends..:scream:)

So now..I have acquaintances and am working to make my OWN friends, not just those Dear Wife has already... However, because I was so horribly burned in the past..it's a slow process...

I guess I sound bitter...

So it's my neighbour's birthday tomorrow, as we are 'newly be-friended' and have spent a few Friday nights together recently, I invited her for birthday eve drinks at mine, along with an old friend that I've recently made contact with.

So I hung up the Happy Birthday banner, wrapped the pressies and signed the card. Got the cheese out of the fridge, checked the crackers and put the grapes in a bowl.

Felt a little excited about good girly chat and laughs.

Got a text from neighbour saying she had a cold and wouldn't be coming and old friend is an hour late and obviously not turning up ~ a phone call would have been appreciated!

Hurrump! I even put make up on and washed my feet :scream:

At least I can watch my soaps and there's more wine for me

When's the last time you've been let down by friends or an evening has gone wrong?
Well, the guest of honor had a cold, and it may have hit her pretty hard, so that doesn't mean she isn't your friend.
OTOH, the Just Reconnected With "Friend" had better have a good reason for neither showing up nor calling. :klingon:

How you doing Jenee? :)

Good. I don't get into Misc often, you should come back to TNZ!

I know how you feel. One friend whom I was pretty close to for the last 15 years is suddenly 'distant'.

Go to "meetup.com" and find a group that enjoys some of your favorite past times. There's a group for almost everything. I'm sure you'll find some friends who share your interests there.

It does seem we all have similar experiences with friends. At least we have each other :D

I'm going out with my friend B tomorrow ~ lunch for his birthday. He is more cynical and pessimistic than me (I know ~ how can that be?). I'm looking forward to hearing about his latest dating disaster, how much he hates his work and how slack the service is at the pub where we always go to moan about the service ~ hey it's the cheapest in town

Will be a total 'wingefest' ~ love it

JiNX ~ Neighbour came round last night and thanked for pressies and apologised again, as for Old Friend... I s'pose that's why she's an old friend!

Jenee ~ TNZ is too scarey

Not too scary. But, I have a friend like your Friend B. Doesn't matter what the situation is, she will always find something that is not ... what it could be.

I'm either easily amused or a glutton for punishment.

I find it amusing, a little bit of schadenfreude cheers me no end ;)

See, your guest of honor has class ... and is a friend. You know how you can tell? She didn't ask you to deliver the presents. And here's hoping she didn't give you her cold.

You'd be surprised.

I have no friends where I live right now, none, zero, zilch, technically one family member, but it doesn't feel that way, we never communicate, so basically, I am alone where I am right now. It sucks.

Nobody even cares Brent.

I know, sigh.

Where are you that you don't have any family or friends? Did you recently move?

While it can be disappointing, I really can't be upset with my friends for having a life & other things to do outside of my own. That's why many folks enjoy the company they find at their local pub. You can have a good time with nearly anybody, true friends are ones that come through during times of crisis. IMO if you expect more beyond that, then maybe the issues with friendship comes from within you.

I need to find a local pub.
There are plenty of options available offline to make new friends/associates. You just have to get out the house first. Heck, you can even make new friends going out on a daily basis for a walk in the local park.

Forgive me folks but much of the common thing I'm seeing here is, many of you are afraid to go to parties or to large social gatherings. However, it seems like many of your friends do. Due to them branching out, they're hanging out with you guys less because they know they can't bring you guys along. They don't wanna bring you guys to those places because they know how you feel but they also don't wanna always just sit one on one with you either. What do you really expect them to do?

No, I get out. I'm not one of the ones complaining about a lack of friends. But, I would like to find a local pub.

Your negativity is bringing us all down man. You will become more likable instantly if you turn that frown upside down.

See this guy - :) - do what he is doing.

This guy - :( - he's not having sex. You don't want to be him.

It is unfortunate what happened, but your new friend apologized, she has cold, it's not like she didn't want to come. Old friend is really rude, I wouldn't call her back ever, if she doesn't apologize and give a good reason.

Something similar happened to me with one of my "friends". She would agree to meet for a coffee or something, and then 5 minutes before our meeting, I am almost there, she texts she can't come, no reason or explanation. That happened two times, before I realized that I don't want to have anything to do with such a person. Your friend has to respect you and your time.
Yes but you also have to respect their time too.
If she calls you and says she can't make it, then maybe there is something more important for her to take care of other than having coffee. She did call and tell you both times she couldn't make it. What more did you want her to do?

I don't know enough of the story to call K'Elhayr's friend rude. Did she know there was only going to be 3 people at this party? I think most folks think of a party as being more than just 3 people. So I'm going to assume until told otherwise that she believed it was going to be more than people there than just 3 and figured if there was a big group, that she could not show(for whatever reason) and not be missed. People do that all the time. Does she know the neighbor well enough to feel comfortable throwing a party with them? We don't know from the details given, if she even knows this other girl. Lastly, with only 2 people invited, there was always a 50/50 chance they weren't going to show to begin with. This happens at parties all the time too.

There are many factors other than being a bad friend for her not to call or show. You just don't get rid of friends for not showing to a party. Stealing, sleeping with your man, creating false rumors about you, big bold face lies are better reasons to end a friendship IMO.
