I hate that they deleted this in AGT syndicated version

I hate that the moment Picard says "thank you" to Q is cut out. It's a beautiful character moment that illustrates how far Picard and Q have come in terms of their relationship. No longer is Q a dangerous adversary like in Encounter at Farpoint or the nuisance like in his subsequent appearances, but a respected ally and maybe even friend. The thank you isn't prompted by Q like Picard's declaration of needing help in Qwho; it's given freely and graciously. I also like to think that Picard is also saying thank you because of Tapestry as well. That moment really caps their arc together.

WTF would they cut that out for? & how? It's right in the middle of their conversation :wtf:

Admittedly, it's a strange thing to be thanking him for, given that it's another situation of Q putting Picard through a hell he'd never have been in were it not for Q doing it to him, but what it does is shows Picard having the larger perspective, that much of what Q has done over the years, from Q-Who to Tapestry, is challenge him to see what's coming for the future of the whole species, & to his credit, Picard rises to that challenge time & time again. So, there's growth there, of a nature unobtainable any other way maybe

If I were to meet an omnipotent being capable of making all my dreams come true I would have been more friendly with him over the years than Picard and others were.

Being a wish granting genie was never the bargain on the table though. Q represented the opposite prospect, that you are better off blinked out of existence than not, & only through his good graces are you allowed to exist at all.

Ingratiating yourself to him would've probably just been boring to him, & expedited your annihilation. It was precisely because Picard & crew didn't behave that way, that made them a curiosity to toy with. Even making Riker a Q was less about granting him powers & more about proving himself right about humanity
