I hate Lt. McGyvers.

The way she wets her panties over Khan, jeopardizes everyone, herself, over her fluttering labial folds.

I'm glad she died.

Yup. I made the non-fan missus watch Space Seed the other day. She didn't have good things to say about Khan's little bint.

Damn fine job those Ceti Eels (or is it now Centurian Eels?) did.

I don't expect Starfleet officers to be perfect, but I'd like to think they aren't silly, weak little ninnies who get all hot and bothered at the sight of an alpha male with a bare chest and a nice accent. Apparently that's all it takes to make one forget one's training, obligations, and loyalties to one's people.

She was weak. Weak for Kahn.

Go ahead leave Starfleet, see if we care... Good riddance.

I just wish Madeline had been in TWoK. She was wheelchair-bound at the time (which would have fit in with the plotline), and it'd have been nice to see her.

Really. She came straight out of a Harlequin Romance. Only Khan wasn't a nice hero.

^ Oh, man, you have got it exactly! All he needed was a pair of topboots and a cravat and maybe a riding crop.

Nah. Modern day. The flittery little secretary struggling to get by and living in some poky apartment and the ornery high-powered rich boss.

Khan must really have self esteme issues if he insists on holding onto a woman as weak as McGivers.

I wish they had given her a more reasonable background. She could have even been a civilian observer or something. Someone non-Fleet would have worked better for the story, I think.

She looks like a female Kirk.

A hopeless romantic? Check.
Uses sex as a weapon? Check.
Does give a damn about regulations, but only when it's convenient? Check.
Torn about the morality of her choices, but only after sending hordes of redshirts to mortal danger? Check.
Cleverly manipulates all his enemies, yet earns their respect in the end? Check.
Gets court-martialed and is given a very soft slap on the wrists? Check.
Comes out as a winner against all odds? Check.
At the roll of end credits, boldly goes where no m.. woman has gone before, on an optimistic note? Check.
Gets the pretty, long-haired, big-breasted guest star? So check.

Aw, why do I have to be the only one willing to step up and defend her? :( To paraphrase Mr. T (and Nightcrawler), "I don't hate her, I pity her". She was clearly a lonely, neglected member of the crew (Kirk says something like, "get that historian so she can be useful for a change"), who was understandably seduced by a man who happened to actually represent the greatest (and only) exisiting specimen of that which she was most obsessed and passionate about.

Her passion in life was 20th century history (particularly its leaders), and along comes one of the best of those to rescue her from her meager existence. He offers her something more and she takes the opportunity, even if it means betraying her duty and her colleagues.

I won't deny that what she did was morally contemptible, but by sympathizing with her emotional/psychological motivation, I can see her as more than just someone to be hated for their weakness. I know she was physically attracted to Khan, but I think labelling her as simply a selfish person who just followed her, um...groin is a bit too harsh and unfair.
