I had the dreaded "Love" dream.

That's what I call them and I was wondering if anyone else ever has them? This isn't a sex dream. I don't think I can ever recall having one of those kinds of dreams, unless you could the dreams where I was raped as a sex dream. I got to wonder if the ole wet dream thing is even real or more myth.

The kind of dream I am talking about is where you fall in love with someone and they also love you and it feels so real and when you wake up it's like instant depression when you realize it wasn't real and your back to being lonely. Thing is I can't even recall many of the details of the dream except the kiss and how happy I felt. The emotions seem to last longer than the details. I even recall waking up muttering to myself saying "It was only a dream!" I know the past I have also done the thing where you try to go right back to sleep in hopes of going back into the dream only it never works. In fact when I tried it this time I got some sleep paraylis for my effort.

I have dreams like that all of time. Life is cruel, and awful.

I'm pretty good at remembering my dreams, except at some point it becomes less dream and more conscious. As for sex dreams they are kind of blissful because they are not a fantasy but some kind of naughty freebie and sometimes totally quite impossible.

Have to say I have never had a love dream, but I got married super young and have not felt the subconscious yearning for love or to maybe dream about it.

I've had dreams like this, in fact the last one which was a couple weeks ago the person I was in love with and who loved me SO much was actually a sentient alien dog ! Actually I think there was a bit of World of Warcraft in there as there are Werewolf people in that though I don't play one myself. But that was an underlying vibe to my gorgeous doggy wolfy love.

I put these dreams down to serotonin (or whatever) surges, you get a big feel good hit in your sleep and your brain makes a nice little story about it. I see it as still useful because those chemicals are good for your brain, even if it isn't real.

I also a few years ago had a love dream also impacted by something like "World of Warcraft" but for me it was Clark Kent on "Smallville." It had to been somewhat influenced by the fact that I had been binge watching the show but I know I dreamed I was Clark Kent on the show, in fact I think a had a few Clark Kent dreams where I was him. Not so much romantic kind of love though but I think I sort of enjoyed the aspect of feeling like such a good person and having the Kent Family for support and his friends.

Yes I have had dreams like that. I was so deeply and completely in love with the person....it felt amazing.

Usually, it's a person of whom I have no conscious memory.

Strange phenomenon. Glad I'm not the only one.

I’ve had a few love dreams and one sex dream that I remember. The love dreams suck, the sex dream was “wow”.

I don't recall ever having a "love" dream like you described it, but I have had similar dreams where I had something I really wanted, and then was totally devastated to wake up and realize it wasn't true. I assume that's just part of human nature.

Conversely I've also dreamed a family member was dead and it was SO realistic, I was sobbing my heart out in the dream and when I woke it up it took rather too long, like actual seconds, to realize it wasn't true.

Now here me out. I read this somewhere in a book but there was a kooky idea that sometimes when we dream we visit parallel worlds where we see other versions of ourselves.

What if dreams are a form of travel?

I only had this happen one time and it left me feeling very upset when I woke up in the morning.

I had this dream that I was with this woman who was a redhead and she had a nice sports car which was an odd mix of green / red. Anyway we were driving around and we stopped at what was her house and went in to eat, then we sat on a sofa and talked, then she grabbed my hand and was about to ask me a question, and that's when the dream broke and ended and I woke up.

The upsetting part was that it felt like I had actually spent a lot of time there. I remember going out, shopping, visiting her family and stuff. I just felt upset when I woke up like "where is she?" and I have seen this same person in several dreams but with different things happening..

Anyway has anyone else had experiences like this?

I think that sort of comes with the love dream experience. Everything feels familiar and normal when you are their. Then again doesn't this happen in regular dreams as well? I once had a dream I was in a grand canyon type of place with the Beverly Hillbillies and they were cooking something in a cauldron and Freddy Krueger wanted to join in and he was crying and talking about how misunderstood he was and in those moments it all felt normal to me, not to mention that it had also started with me in my house at the time as lava surounded it and I was stuck inside. I think Freddy Krueger was first trying to kill me and then he saved me.

Yeah kind of only I've seen the same woman several times in my dreams.

I had one of these dreams last night.

I was back in college (a lot of my dreams seem to be set in college/in my fraternity house). The woman was no one I recognized.

But it was powerful. Not lust, deep love.

Must be some brain chemical thing.

It’ll be the Bajoran Festival of Gratitude all over again...
